We are currently seeking applications to fill the following job opening at Asahi Kasei Plastics North America where our products are used in a wide array of molding applications including automotive, consumer, electronics, furniture, and industrial parts and they provide excellent solutions for pressure vessels.

Job Description:

We are seeking a self-directed and results oriented person to supervise laboratory technicians and manage resources to ensure accurate and impartial output of results in a timely manner. If you have good communication skills, enjoy working with people and plastic, and able to work at times in a fast-paced environment, please apply!

Position will require 1 to 2 weeks of travel to Fowlerville, Michigan for training shortly after hire.

Job Tasks

  • Manage Laboratory resources to meet work demand
  • Hiring, training and development of resources
  • Resolution of testing nonconformities
  • Coordinate Technical Work Requests (Limited at Athens site)
  • Ensure that all activities are completed in compliance with lean, ethical, and regulatory requirements, including IATF 16949 / A2LA ISO 17025 / ISO 14001
  • Seek continuous improvement through periodic assessments

Qualifications (Education, Experience, Licensures, and Certifications)
  • Associates / Bachelors in STEM or Plastics Processing
  • Minimum 5 years laboratory experience
  • Preferred supervisory experience

Required Skills
  • Microsoft Office (excel, word, power point, outlook)
  • ASTM/ISO testing knowledge
  • Good laboratory practice habits and maintenance/calibration of equipment
  • SAP ERP knowledge preferred but not required

Work Environment / Physical Demands / Travel
  • Office environment
  • Sits, walks, stands sometimes
  • Lifts occasionally
  • Ability to travel 10-15% domestically for the first year for training, 10% travel after first year
