Job Summary:

The Research Services Professional-Open Rank will work within the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The role will be to serve as the primary research coordinator on Labor & Delivery five nights per week. The individual will coordinate the activities required to conduct clinical research protocols, recruit, and enroll research participants, accurately record and enter data, and support physician investigators. The position may be split between across departments and institutions on the Anschutz Medical Campus, but the main expectation is that this individual will have an active presence on Labor and Delivery and work closely with both the clinical and research teams. The Research Services Professional in this position will not be called on to make independent medical decisions at any time, but a solid fundamental knowledge of biological and medical sciences is necessary for this position. Additionally, an appreciation of accepted methods of clinical research is required.

This is a full-time, overnight position.

Key Responsibilities

    Assist with and oversee the day-to-day operations of clinical trials and studies. Obtain study subject's medical history and current medication information, reviews research protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, and confirms eligibility of subject to participate in clinical trial. Perform informed consent process or ensures that the informed consent process has occurred, is properly documented, and that informed consent form documents are filed as required. Interview prospective subjects for a variety of research clinical trials. Educate potential subjects on the details of the studies through phone contacts and personal interviews.
  • Schedule subject participation in research clinical trial, coordinating availability of necessary space, and clinical research support (e.g., physician, nurse practitioner, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy).

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications

Intermediate Level:
    A bachelor's degree in any field. At least one (1) year of clinical research or related experience.

Senior Level:
    Bachelor's degree in any field. Two (2) years clinical research or related experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in science or health related field.
  • Three (3) years of clinical research or related experience.
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems (e.g., EMR or EHR and data management systems).
  • Fluent in Spanish and able to pass a medical interpreter exam.
  • Professional certification as a medical assistant or phlebotomist.
  • Experience working on Labor & Delivery or in women's health.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Experience reviewing clinical research protocols and demonstrating the ability to implement the protocol accordingly.
  • Experience with recruitment and completion of study activities.
  • Experience working with biological specimens.
  • Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
    Intermediate Level: $48,321 - $61,464 Senior Level: $52,239 - $66,448

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
