Overview:

The Jr. Systems Engineer performs a wide range of technical and small project management duties associated with the support of Cedar Point networks and systems.  Position requirements are to demonstrate an entry knowledge in project management, network design, implementation, security, maintenance, support and knowledge of Client/Server, network, hardware, and software integration.


How You'll Make A Difference:

  • Works under the direction of the IT manager and Systems Engineer in conjunction with multi-functional teams, vendors and end users on small to large complexity projects.
  • Provides project costs, design concepts, or changes. Evaluates current or emerging technologies. Makes recommendations and implements solutions. Is able to use independent judgment and recommend solutions based on factors like cost, complexity and time.
  • Assists in development of changes and modifications of procedures regarding configuration of vital computing equipment. Participates in audits to ensure optimal performance, reliability and environment security. Collaborates with engineers, system administrators, software developers, users and management to select appropriate design solutions or to ensure the compatibility of system components. Maintains AD for efficiency and security. Changes, safeguards and audits DNS, DHCP and other vital network services.
  • Responds promptly to disruption of service, communicating effectively to users, vendors, management and team members.
  • Assists with development of standards, policies and procedures.
  • Enforces, monitors, and remedies security to meet PCI/DSS, Privacy and HIPPA requirements. Uses and sets standards for secure protocols like SSH, HTTP, and SSL not allowing clear test protocols like FTP, http, telnet etc.
  • Configures and defines parameters for installation or testing of local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), switches, routers, firewalls, servers, virtualization technology, and related network equipment. Creates and maintains technical documentation.
  • Enforces licensing agreements; assists with network security and performs LAN/WAN auditing as directed by senior systems engineers.
  • Configure and maintain various physical security components such as IP cameras, access control systems, and turnstiles.
  • Monitors use of computer systems to ensure efficient utilization. Identifies inadequate or inefficient systems, bottlenecks, performance problems and suggests alternatives to reduce costs or increase efficiencies.
  • Performs installation and maintenance of all network servers; supervises the installation, configuration and maintenance on all desktop, laptop and notebook computers. Implements in accordance with best practice, high availably, reliably, performance and accepted security standards. Ensures all patches, firmware and regular preventive maintenance is performed routinely.
  • Adheres to and enforces all Cedar Fair and specific Park policies and procedures, including safety, attendance and EEO policies, and demonstrates commitment to customer service in all aspects of employment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

We're Looking For:

  • Associate's Degree (2 year College or Tech School), Information Technology.
  • 3 - 5 Years Related Experience TCP/IP, routing protocols, layer 2 & layer 3 devices, etc.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have entry knowledge to build, and trouble shoot: Servers, Networks, Firewalls, Routers, Switches, Wireless devices and client devices, laptops, desktops, etc.
  • Experience with Microsoft Technologies: Active Directory, Server, Desktop, Exchange, and entry level SQL knowledge, with a focus on maintenance, upgrades and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse teams, make decisions, and solve problems within tight timelines.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies: Vmware and HyperVAbility to work nights, weekends and holiday periods to meet business needs.
  • Ability to pass a mandatory (or random) drug test, per Company policy, unless prohibited by state or provincial law.
  • Ability to pass a background check, if 18 years of age or older, which may include, but is not limited to, credit, criminal, DMV, previous employment, education and personal references, per Company policy, unless prohibited by federal, state, or provincial law.
  • Must possess a valid Driver's License.
