Position Overview

The IT Project Manager reports to the Service Delivery Manager. The role of an IT Project Manager is to plan, execute, and finalize business projects according to strict deadlines. This includes the management of the day-to-day work activities of the project, ensuring the quality of the team's work, managing project scope, issues, risk, resources (internal and external resources) and budget. The IT Project Manager will also define the project's objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for leading IT implementation projects to ensure the projects are delivered On-Time, On-Budget and properly Resourced. Ensuring weekly project communication to the business and IT and daily reporting of any issues or roadblocks.
  • Responsible for documenting and maintaining standard SubCom project charters that define the project's need, scope, requirements, schedule, and ROI in collaboration with IT management and business stakeholders.
  • Responsible for project budgets, timelines, and resources. Overseeing the on-time completion of standard project deliverables owned by the members of the project team. Escalating issues as needed.
  • Responsible for driving project business decisions towards alignment with the company's business objectives and long-term IT strategies. Influences key decisions across stakeholder groups.
    • Responsible for providing insight and direction on IT best practices and common obstacles based on prior experiences. Drive implementation of best practices throughout the organization.
  • Lead weekly communication project status, expectations, and issues to stakeholders, including business leaders, team members, and senior managers utilizing SubCom's standard project summary.
  • Conduct project team postmortems, creating recommendations report to support continuous improvements.
    • Lead technical and business teams through direct and indirect influence. Develop best practices and tools for project execution and management.
    • Proactively identify, manage, and mitigates risks in projects. Communicate solutions on key issues or projects to IT Leadership and stakeholders to obtain their input and approval as appropriate.
    • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Requires a bachelor's degree with 10 years relevant experience leading IT implementation projects. Master's degree in business preferred.
  • Knowledge of project management software tools and experienced in using a formal Solutions Delivery Life Cycle/Methodology (Agile & Waterfall)
  • Operational understanding of IT technology, financials, and budgeting, including technical knowledge of IT systems, support, and design as well as application implementation and support.
  • Hands-on leader with the willingness and ability to roll up their sleeves to work side by side with their team, lead by example, in support of SubCom's business objectives.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate priorities, document procedures, architectures, and services. Ability to articulate thoughts and ideas clearly, concisely, and persuasively.
  • Interpersonal skills to build and maintain rapport, confidence and influence with customers, peers, and teammates both in person and remotely. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Work with the Service Delivery team to identify and remediate flaws and inefficiencies in team processes and documentation.
