Position Details:

The Opportunity:

The Carson College of Business, Office of Technology teams seeks a skilled member as an IT Customer Support - Entry to provide support for information systems and users, through consulting, analyzing, programming, maintaining, installing and/or providing technical support.

Reporting to the Associate Director, IT Services, you will consult with customers to identify and analyze technology needs and problems; respond to and resolve trouble reports from users; process equipment and service orders; coordinate installations, moves, and changes; develop and conduct application, software, and/or system operation training for users; analyze problems for parts of applications and solving problems; support and enhance existing applications in compliance with specifications and standards; conduct unit, system, or usability testing; write specifications and develop reports; or serve as part of a problem solving team addressing more complex issues.

Users include the Carson College of Business faculty, staff, volunteers, and graduate students located on and off the WSU campus.

The successful candidate will be a team player who prioritizes a high volume of tasks and is a proven problem solver with methodical troubleshooting skills. The position may be on-call to respond to system issues outside of normal business hours.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, or four (4) years of work experience in the field of information technology. Any combination of relevant education and work experience totaling four (4) years may be substituted for this requirement.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of multiple operating systems and associated hardware and software.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the installation, use, and support of Microsoft Office 365 applications.

  • Experience analyzing, installing, maintaining software applications, hardware, and network equipment.

  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work with a team to provide customer support.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a university environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Two years of information technology experience such as providing customer or technical support in information technology disciplines; telecommunications; consulting, analyzing, installing and/or maintaining computer software applications, hardware, or network infrastructure equipment.

  • Demonstrated knowledge in the installation and support of video conferencing and classroom hardware and software.

Monthly Salary: $4,948 - $6,656 (Step A - M, Range 01IT) | Successful candidates typically begin at the beginning of the salary range and receive scheduled salary increment increases in accordance with WAC 357-28.
