Overview

The Investment Accountant is is primarily responsible for reconciling and recording the monthly and quarterly U.S. GAAP financial close for domestic real estate entities; monitoring and tracking domestic and international leases in Yardi in accordance with U.S. GAAP ASC 842; and providing day-to-day support to the manager on an ad hoc basis. The role requires fluency in Yardi and Oracle ERP, and the ability to translate requirements between the systems. Additionally, the Investment Accountant has a working knowledge of ASC 842; and broad topics, including real estate accruals. The Investment Accountant is responsible for ensuring that team members are apprised of all issues and receive status updates through effective communication to accomplish assigned tasks efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain general ledger, including monthly/quarterly close.
  • Drives process enhancements for recording and reconciling real estate accrual accounting journal entries and balances, which includes continuous improvement of excel processes.
  • Perform bank reconciliations.
  • Assists in preparing quarterly financial reporting to fulfill lender compliance requirements.
  • Tracks, monitors, and maintains the lease database in Yardi to comply with ASC 842 for U.S. GAAP.
  • Able to abstract commercial leases.
  • Is a point of contact for questions and issue resolution with matters relating to real estate.
  • Prepares analyses and analytics that support Financial Reporting, FP&A, and external rating agency requests.
  • Assists with the preparation of U.S. GAAP ASC 842 related financial statement footnotes.
  • Effective communicator to keep team and managers apprised of issues, status and resolutions.


Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years work experience in the Real Estate industry.
  • Practical experience with Yardi software required.
  • Practical experience with general ledger applications and tools (Oracle and HFM preferred).
  • Advanced Excel skills (logical formulas and pivot tables).


Preferred:
  • Big 4 experience.
  • CPA or working towards certification.
  • Real Estate industry experience.
  • Harbor Flex experience.
