Valfair Construction a wholly owned subsidiary of Copart Inc. is looking for an Intermediate Mechanic. Primary responsibilities would be the start and the completion of large/small projects assigned by the Equipment Operations Manager as well as being responsible for providing direction to shop assistance. They would possess the ability to identify minor mechanical issues with heavy equipment/fleet trucks/trailers and other equipment on the yard. This individual would have an eye for detail and experienced knowledge with trouble shooting and creative problem solving for tasks assigned to them. They would be knowledgeable in shop safety practices and can enforce safety practices while identifying new or potential safety risks. Daily tasks would include identifying repair needs for equipment, facility maintenance, Preventive Maintenance for equipment and conducting on-hire/off-hire inspections, ordering parts or supplies to complete job tasks for shop or equipment, parts runs and ensuring equipment is clean and ready for operation. This job is hands-on with equipment and instructing others around them on best practices. Additionally, assisting the Shop Truck Mechanic or Welder Fabricator with larger projects, which would include specific or intricate tasks. Attention to detail with paperwork management, which would include requesting PO's, submitting work orders, receipts, and invoices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Demonstrates and experienced skill with mechanics, hydraulics, electrical systems, and fabrication repairs
  • Experienced with the safe and proper use of tools and equipment
  • Must work towards ownership of your own tools and tool storage
  • Ability to communicate instructions to a team of individuals for the successful completion of projects
  • Attention to detail to review or exam work completed by apprenticing employees
  • Experienced knowledge of Company Policy for Safety Practices, Process and Procedures
  • Knowledgeable of vendors in the area and where to obtain parts, tools or materials for shop projects
  • Self-starter requiring little or no direction or supervision when completing tasks

Required Skills
  • Valid Driver's License or CDL
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Possesses mechanical knowledge and aptitude
  • Excellent communicator verbal and written
  • Dependable at arriving to work on-time and when scheduled
