The Insurance Risk Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Risk Management and Insurance team at Stanford University. This position interacts with various campus departments and schools, providing critical services, guidance, and education on risk management best practices, risk mitigation strategies, and claims handling. This position reports to the Executive Director of Risk Management.Key Responsibilities:

Financial Management: Process insurance-related financial transactions, including invoice payments, self-insured claim reimbursements, and account reconciliations within the Oracle system.Data Analysis and Reporting: Compile and maintain accurate data for insurance renewal applications, claims, budgeting, and premium allocation. Construct and assemble data for risk analysis and decision making which includes development of risk summaries or analyses for individual departments/units. Generate insightful reports using various tools such as Excel or Riskonnect.Claims Management: Manage self-insured claim activities, including logging claims in the online portal, assessing claim validity, reviewing substantiation for reimbursement. Stakeholder Engagement: Serve as a trusted resource for university stakeholders by addressing their risk management inquiries and guiding them towards appropriate solutions.Compliance & Administration: Maintain the university's DMV data, department website, international insurance placements, and ensure adherence to all applicable University policies and procedures. Organize and maintain the departmental document repository system. Independently, administer day-to-day activities of the unit or program. Act as a key contact.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is a plus.Minimum of 3 years of experience in risk management and insurance within a corporate, brokerage, or insurance company setting (experience as a risk analyst, broker, underwriting service is highly desirable).Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficiency in MS Office Suite (particularly Excel and PowerPoint).Good working knowledge of Smartsheet and Oracle Financials system is a plus.The successful candidate will need to be vetted through the California Department of Motor Vehicles and hold a California license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.Frequently stand/walk, sitting, grasp lightly/fine manipulation.Occasionally use a telephone.Rarely lift/carry/push/pull objects that weigh 11-20 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

May have occasional extended or weekend work hours during peak business cycles.

The expected pay range for this position is $66,560 to $ $119,831 per annum.Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location and external market pay for comparable jobs.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
