Position Summary::

The Institutional Research Analyst will be the primary contact for data and information requests for staff and faculty from all college operational areas. This position will manage and respond to incoming data requests, develop and update Informer reports, and create data reports, visualizations, and other analyses; primarily using Microsoft Excel. In addition, the Analyst will serve as the backup for the Instructional Class Report (ICR) process managed by Institutional Effectiveness and assist the Director and other staff with other federal, state, and internal reporting activities.

Staff Required Education/Experience::

  • An Associate's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in any discipline.
  • Minimum of three year's experience working at a North Carolina Community College System member institution required.
  • Demonstrated work experience using Datatel Colleague or Entrinisk Informer required.
Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities::

  • Knowledge of NCCCS policies and procedures in any functional area of the college, including (but not limited to) student services and registration, financial aid, human resources, or continuing education; or alternatively, faculty experience teaching at a North Carolina community college.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (including Word and PowerPoint) and other common office software and systems.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel to include the use of pivot tables and formulas to merge, review, and analyze information from large datasets.
  • Experience working with large datasets, including recoding and merging information from multiple sources into a single dataset.
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely in both written reports and visualizations such as charts and graphs.
  • Ability to read, understand, and effectively implement written policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work effectively in both group and individual settings.
  • Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects or assignments effectively.
  • Ability to document processes and maintain metadata for assigned activities.
  • Possess a positive, professional, and customer-focused outlook in solving problems and working with internal and external clients.

Work Hours::

Generally equivalent to a 8:00am to 5:00pm Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week schedule. Remote work options dependent on institutional and divisional policies, contingent upon satisfactory performance.

Duty and Responsibility::

Serve as primary person of contact for data requests, Informer reports, and other information needs for college staff in all operational areas; including academics, student services, continuing education, human resources, and the business office.

Duty and Responsibility::

Manage the Institutional Effectiveness department's ticketing system; ensure that all requests are responded to promptly and fulfilled in a timely manner.

Duty and Responsibility::

Create a wide variety of data reports and visualizations for campus staff used to support the compliance and decision-making needs of the college.

Duty and Responsibility::

Serve as the designated backup manager for the Instructional Class Report process for both curriculum and continuing education courses; assist with other formal reporting required by the system office or other outside agencies.

Duty and Responsibility::

Maintain the college's library of Informer reports, including updating and troubleshooting existing reports and creating new reports as needed; maintain a catalog of other verified data sources used for reporting purposes.

Train new users on report ticketing system, reporting software, and college policies and procedures related to scope of work.
