Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Fosters communication between Infrastructure and End User Services teams.
  • Presents recommendations to leadership in a clear and professional manner to assist in informed decision making.
  • Provides technical support and guidance to users.
  • Relies on experience, and judgment to perform the functions of the job.
  • May lead and direct others.
  • Exhibits a wide degree of creativity.
  • Follows security architecture standards, frameworks and guidelines. Emphasizes infrastructure security best practices and ensures adoption across corporate solutions.
  • Assists in troubleshooting network and server performance issues.
  • Participates in infrastructure strategy planning as needed.
  • Incorporates Infrastructure developed strategies into new technology business initiatives.
  • May be responsible for leading and directing infrastructure related projects and project teams.
  • Write functional requirements/specifications documents.
  • Assess vendor development/test strategies.
  • Analyze existing infrastructure designs and strategies to ensure they are adequately meeting the organization's needs.
  • Compare proposed technical designs against RDI standards, industry best practices, etc. to ensure systems mesh with existing infrastructure, skillsets, and security posture.
  • Evaluate final project outputs for success against project design and build baselines.
  • Deploy technology as per written designs in line with RDI and industry standards.
  • Become the subject matter expert on one or more technologies supported by assigned team.
  • Follows project testing and implementation plans and project timelines.
  • Recommends, reviews and creates documentation as needed for any new or changed project or technology.
  • Ensures systems are adequately tuned, patched and monitored to meet design specs at optimal levels.
  • Performs troubleshooting to remedy network and server performance issues.
  • Implements upgrades, patches, new applications and installation of infrastructure components.
  • Leverages proof-of-concept engineering initiatives for system additions or changes.
  • Leverage and follows the change management process.
  • Create documentation as needed for any new or changed project or technology.
  • Support technology as per written designs in line with RDI and industry standards.
  • Takes ownership of systems, maintains the overall health and uptime to company requirements.
  • Maintain monitoring systems to support enterprise infrastructure.
  • Participates in capacity and performance management of existing infrastructure.
  • Participates in business continuity and disaster recovery strategy development.
  • Follow standards for monitoring all in scope systems, applications, security, and network configurations.
  • Ensure best practices such as backup, anti-virus and other industry standards are followed.
  • Ensures FreshService tickets are processed in a timely manner.

Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within field. Performs varied tasks.
  • Strong technical aptitude, creativity, and ability to research and solve complex issues.
  • Ability to effectively communicate issues and resolutions to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work both alone and within a team and established standards.
  • Experience documenting, project tracking and management reporting.
  • Experience or exposure to appropriate systems such as:
    • Windows Server operating systems and Active Directory domains
    • Microsoft Azure
    • Virtualization Platforms: VMware 7.0, Azure Stack HCI
    • Server and Storage hardware solutions: SANs, servers
    • Routers, switches, WLCs, Firewalls, Network Load Balancers
    • Hosted and Cloud Solutions: Co-Lo, IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
    • A variety of application solutions (web, database, etc.)
    • Security solutions: Multi-factor Auth, PAM, SEIM, Pen Testing, Vulnerability Scanning
    • Infrastructure monitoring tools
  • Prior experience in DR / Business Continuity planning and exercises is preferred.
  • Exposure to ITIL 2.0 framework is preferred.
Education, Training, and Licenses:
  • Certification(s) in area of specialty is preferred.
  • Associate degree in Computer Science or in an equivalent area of specialty is preferred.
  • Minimum of 2+ years' experience in the field or related area.
  • Minimum of 1+ years' experience in an Infrastructure Support or Service Desk role.
