Overview

Intrepid Solutions is currently supporting the National Air & Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) providing floor to ceiling information technology services across the command. This has been a growing program for several years, with many opportunities to diversify professional skills, and advancement. Our team is seeking additional personnel to provide Network Installation and Infrastructure support. A qualified candidate will be able to meet the requirements, and perform the duties, outlined below:
Responsibilities

  • Follow all EIA/TIA Industry Standards, Air Force Standards, Wright Patterson AFB Facility Standards, Tempest Regulations, and NASIC policies, processes and procedures.
  • Maintain Communication Equipment Rooms in accordance to the Data Center Manager's Memorandum of Agreementin accordance with the Data Center Manager's Memorandum of Agreement.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert to NASIC and its designated Representatives on all network cabling installation projects.
  • Work with Network Operations PTA and/or Network Team Lead to design, plan, and coordinate all internal cable plant installations, facility construction and maintenance activities within negotiated timeframes.
  • Install, route, and dress fiber segments needed to facilitate the upgrade to the NASIC complex to include the Joint Reserve Intelligence Center and Defense Intelligence Agency facilities located within NASIC footprint by using CPCT certified technicians.
  • Install and test premise fiber infrastructure cabling and connectors by using CPCT certified technicians to ensure all applicable regulations and standards are followed.
  • Document all work using the NASIC generated Incident and Service Requests system (i.e. Microsoft System Center Service Manager) and provide documentation and accountability to install and maintain data communication infrastructure within required time periods
  • Install racks and IT equipment in the data centers and CERs following all applicable standards.
  • Ensure IT equipment is connected to specific security levels, documented and labeled as prescribed to the NASIC Network Installation Standards.
  • Remove and dispose network cabling following applicable standards .
  • Review and place Installation Orders and User Requirements on the operations calendar to ensure installation requirements are met and tasks do not overlap with other facility requirements.
  • Assist NASIC SC personnel to maintain Courtesy Storage Facility parts inventory by logging all parts received and removed by NASIC/SC technicians.
  • Troubleshoot network issues pertaining to the cabling infrastructure.
  • Identify and repair fiber and CAT5/6 cabling issues/breaks to include the supporting cabling hardware.
  • Relocate IT for NASIC customers from old locations to new locations in support of RMPT
  • Install/remove desktop computers and peripheral equipment in support of RMPT.
  • Manage and schedule a crew of installation/repair and PC installation technicians.
  • Maintain control of equipment assigned to and/or associated with this functional area.
  • Provide input to Daily Logs, Weekly Reports, and Monthly Reports on all network tasks performed, man hours used and parts usage.
  • Provide monthly functional area reports summarizing work accomplished, work planned in next month and important issues occurring during the month.
Qualifications

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Twelve (12) years of experience as a Network Hardware Support Technician which includes troubleshooting and resolving problems, desired.
  • Six (6) years of experience in fiber optic cable installation, maintenance and repair, desired.
  • Able to provide level II and III CFP escalation support.
  • Have knowledge of network and web related protocols (eg, TCI/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, routing protocols).
  • Experience with High-performance computer interconnects (Ethernet, InfiniBand, Fibre Channel).
  • Experience with System Administration (Desired)
CLEARANCE: Active Top Secret / SCI **TS/SCI required upon application for initial consideration***

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or equivalent

CERTIFICATION(S):
  • Possess industry recognized fiber-optic certification to include any of the following: Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certified Premises Cabling Technician (CPCT) certification (preferred), FOA Certified Fiber Optic Technician (CFOT), Electronic Technicians Association (ETA) Fiber Optics Designer (FOD), ETA Fiber Optics Installer (FOI), ETA Fiber Optics Technician (FOT), or Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Installer2, Fiber-Optic.
  • DoD 8140/8570 IAT Level II (CompTIA Security+) certification, Required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT(S):
  • Capable of climbing ladders and lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds.
