Position Description:

This position will be primarily responsible for training our Quality system but will also collaborate with Human Resources and the Director of Preclinical Operations for other training initiatives. Experience working with small and large animals. Be an expert on dosing, bleeding, and necropsy techniques in multiple species.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The Training Supervisor will perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  • Coordinate training and onboarding for all employees working in the in vivo facilities in an organized and timely manner
  • Plan and implement an effective employee orientation and on-going training curriculum to ensure a consistent and standardized approach to animal-related activities
  • Assists with the development of training curriculum and training materials.
  • Coordinates and conducts "Train the Trainer" training to develop trainers for effective operations.
  • Conduct Good Documentation Practices (GDP) training and training for mandatory procedures, as assigned.
  • Analyze training evaluations of Trainers to determine areas for improvement.
  • Provide input for improvements to the overall training program and training curriculum.
  • Assists Managers with coordinating and documenting training requirements.
  • Assist with development and maintenance of department training matrixes.
  • Assist in meeting departmental goals, and special projects as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization skills and a high level of attention to detail. Understanding of effective teaching methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with the handling and care of small & large laboratory animals in a research setting
  • Knowledgeable of animal handling, small & large animal technical skills, and industry best practices
  • Perform facility walk-throughs, proficiency observations, and offer trainings to all vivarium-facing members
  • Knowledge of curriculum design (classroom).
  • Ability to adapt style and training, depending on business needs. Strong presentation skills along with strong time management
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Perform other related duties as required
Minimum requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or training certificate preferred, or experience as a trainer in a variety of environments.
  • Minimum of three years' experience as a trainer.
  • A 3-5 year animal experience with small and large animals
  • Knowledgeable of dosing, bleeding, necropsy techniques in multiple species.
  • AAALAS certification (preferable)
