Job Summary
The HR Systems Analyst plays a key role in supporting the HR Systems Manager with the data analysis and HR systems management activities within the HR Applications and Information Services (HRAIS) unit. This position is responsible for assisting with collecting, analyzing, and interpreting HR data to support decision-making processes, as well as providing technical support and expertise for HR systems and applications.

Duties & Responsibilities

Data Analysis and HR Systems Management:

  • Serve as backup technical resource for HRAIS, including but not limited to Banner, Salary Planner, HRFE, and custom applications.
  • Participate and assist with enterprise-wide system testing, configuration, and maintenance activities for HR and payroll applications.
  • Assist with the collection and analysis of HR data to identify trends, patterns, and insights that support strategic decision-making within IHR and the UIUC campus.
  • Assist with and lead the development and maintenance of queries and reports for campus-wide HR operations, including compensation, appointment, personnel demographic, and other HR-related data.
  • Assist in script writing and basic application development and maintenance tasks for HR systems and applications using SQL, PowerBuilder, PowerAutomate, and PowerApps.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technical practices and trends in HR systems and applications.
Collaboration and Documentation:
  • Under direction, create complex data sets and analyze data to produce written reports for various stakeholders on Campus including, but not limited to IHR, the Provost Budget Office and various colleges / units.
  • Maintain documentation associated with report development, including processes, schedules, requirements, and queries/scripts.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand data and system requirements and provide technical guidance and support as needed.
  • Collaborate on complex data projects with a focus on collecting, parsing, managing, analyzing, and visualizing data to turn information into insights using multiple platforms.
Other Duties as Assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of work experience in IT-related functions, such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
    • College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows:
      • 30 semester hours equals one (1) year
      • Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months
      • 90 semester hours equals two (2) years
      • Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years
  • Demonstrated experience with Oracle, SQL, and or comparable systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience with HR applications, databases, and systems at the University of Illinois.
  • Fluency in multiple programming languages.
  • Knowledge of Banner and EDW tables and data structures.
  • Experience identifying and addressing customer needs, excellent analytical and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand advanced technical concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team of professionals in the timely completion of tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and to work with shifting priorities and schedules.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to work with considerable latitude and independence of action.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication, writing and presentation skills.
  • Independent decision-making ability that reflects good judgment and discretion.
Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after 4/12/2024. Starting salary is $80,000, and is commensurate with experience. This position is not eligible for sponsorship.
