The Head of Petcare Preventatives Marketing is responsible for leading all Marketing efforts and U.S. planning for new and mature products for this therapeutic area. Key therapeutic area responsibility includes Parasiticides (Simparica Trio, ProHeart, Revolution Plus) and Biologicals (Vanguard, Felocell.) This leader will supervise a team of 10 marketing professionals and will be a member of the Petcare Marketing Leadership Team. They will have P&L responsibility for products noted above and lead market/asset development for new products in the preventatives portfolio.

Responsibilities include overseeing the development and implementation of brand marketing strategies and for leading the operating plan process for the therapeutic area. The Head of Petcare Therapeutics will also coordinate with Veterinary Medical Research (VMRD) and Development and Global Commercial Development (GCD) on lifecycle plans and strategies to ensure a robust pipeline of new products and line extensions.

Key Responsibilities

Leading the Business

  • Develop and execute the strategic marketing plans for Parasiticides and Vaccines including professional and consumer channel communications
  • Develop and deliver the 5-year strategic and financial operating plan
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of Marketing Managers responsible for all aspects of the Therapeutic Area marketing mix
  • Define and provide ongoing developmental opportunities for marketing team
  • Manage the P&L by ensuring key brand revenues, profit margins and expenses are in line with division and company expectations
  • Prepare and present therapeutic area reviews and business updates to Senior Management
  • Collaborate with Business Development and GCD to facilitate the acquisition and development of new products and line extensions.
  • Lead the Parasiticides and Vaccines commercial lifecycle planning efforts to ensure new data and formulations optimize the lifecycle of current brands
  • Maintain and continue to bring new talent into the marketing organization
  • Collaborate with Sales and Veterinary Professional Services Management to ensure complete alignment of business strategy and execution at customer level.
  • Develop and implement successful therapeutic category and associated brand plans which will deliver performance expectations and drive company growth
  • Collaborate with Marketing Leadership Team to enhance key functional skills to maximize cross-portfolio opportunities (e.g., Digital Marketing, DTC, channel strategy, etc.)

Leading People

  • Assesses and coaches individual and team performance to exceed business goals.
  • Coaches and directs Team Leads and Marketing Manager's in developing comprehensive marketing objectives, strategies and plans and in identifying and including key stakeholders throughout the process.
  • Actively coaches direct reports to optimize their performance and develop their capabilities for advancement and future opportunities.
  • Fosters an environment where coaching and feedback is open, ongoing and consistent.

Qualifications & Experience

These qualifications, experiences, and skills are highly desirable; however, they do not preclude exceptions based on an individual's performance history and demonstrated potential.

  • BS /BA and relevant experience required. MBA preferred
  • 15+ years of related experience and a proven record demonstrating successful branding, strategy development and communications management.
  • Strong financial analysis skills and proven ability to manage budgets and expenses.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams in developing and executing brand strategies, programs and tactics to achieve and surpass market share and revenue targets.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a team player and player/coach.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to oversee complex, cross-functional projects that require input from many internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong oral, written and interpersonal communications skills; strong negotiation/persuasion skills.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge and expertise in marketing disciplines; brand management; market research; communications strategy; customer insight; and marketing material development.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Office and ability to learn Zoetis systems)
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and make thoughtful, fair decisions based on relevant info.
  • Ability to interact with/influence Sr. Management and peers with confidence and conviction.
