Summary:
Jackson College is seeking a dedicated and experienced individual to serve as the Head Soccer Coach for our Men's Soccer program. The ideal candidate will be responsible for selecting, recruiting, instructing, and monitoring student-athletes, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations set forth by the College, the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA), and the Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA). Additionally, the Head Soccer Coach will play a crucial role in managing the preliminary budget, scheduling, travel arrangements, and equipment needs for the Men's Soccer team.

Essential Functions

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Budgeting: Provide preliminary budget projections for the Men's Soccer program.Recruitment: Recruit prospective student-athletes aligned with Jackson College's enrollment targets, considering both athletic and academic performance. Submit recruit lists for grant approval.Scheduling: Prepare the team's schedule for games and other activities.Planning: Develop an annual on/off-season plan, setting goals for the program in areas such as athletics, academics, fund development, and community service.Supervision: Supervise assistant coaches, volunteers, and student-athletes, ensuring adherence to academic, practice, and game schedules. Promote sportsmanship and fair play.Logistics: Coordinate practice schedules and trips, manage team equipment including inventory, repair, and replacement.Compliance: Abide by all NJCAA and MCCAA standards, as well as administrative policies of the College and Athletic Department.Administrative Support: Support administrative policies regarding travel regulations, grants, purchasing, and credit card use.Image Building: Foster a positive image for the College and the Athletic Department.Academic Support: Promote and monitor student academic performance and community service. Make appropriate referrals for academic assistance.Media Coordination: Ensure accuracy and completeness of team media information such as rosters and webpages.Fund Development: Engage in fund development activities for the athletic program.Student Transition Support: Support student-athletes in their transition to other athletic or academic institutions as needed.Alignment with College Values: Understand, support, and demonstrate the College's beliefs, values, mission, and vision.Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.Supervisory Responsibilities:This position supervises assistant coaches and student employees, including training, hiring, and termination recommendations.Contacts and Purpose of Contacts:Internal: Frequent contact with faculty, staff, and administrators within various departments for information sharing.External: Regular contact with students, prospective students, community members, media, high school coaches, area Athletic Directors, college coaches, officials, NJCAA, and MCCAA.Minimum Qualifications

Qualifications:Education: Associate Degree required, Bachelor's Degree preferred in related fields.Experience: Three or more years of coaching experience required, preferably in a college setting. CPR/First Aid Certification required.Computer Skills: Proficiency in word processing, scheduling, email, and spreadsheets.Language Skills: Effective written and oral communication skills.Mathematical Skills: Basic understanding of statistics.Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve problems.Physical Demands:Requires talking, hearing, using hands and fingers, standing, walking, running, sitting, reaching, and lifting/moving objects up to 10 pounds.Work Environment:Moderate noise level in the work environment.Note: This summary is not exhaustive and does not limit the right of any supervisor to assign additional duties.Supplemental Information

Coaches are not employed directly by Jackson College with the exception of those receiving a pension from the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System.
