The Hardware/Algorithm Test Engineer develops algorithms and supporting software for testing stations for mass production. The hardware testing carries out calibration, data measurements, control and automation of custom test fixtures and processes to build cutting edge AR/VR products. You will be involved from initial concept to execution, release, debugging and support of test applications. You will be responsible for developing/integrating testing algorithms, interfacing with hardware using vendor or internal APIs, and interfacing with logging, databases, and data infrastructure.The ideal candidate is a self-driven highly motivated individual working in a cross-functional team environment and will be responsible for planning the design, development, and implementation of factory or laboratory test software. You will enforce functionality, testability and ensure cost-effective designs are implemented for hardware testing and automation. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment. We are looking for someone with a productive mindset who can apply their expertise to solve problems in creative, insightful ways.

Hardware/Algorithm Test Engineer, Reality Labs (University Grad) Responsibilities:

  • Develop test software solutions to perform calibration/testing for AR/VR products
  • Supervise tester vendors in test software development
  • Develop test specifications, procedures, and debug guides for test solutions
  • Validate test SW releases, including repeatability and negative testing, and coordinate SW upgrades with CM/JDM partners
  • Perform troubleshooting and debugging test systems and automation solutions from a software and hardware perspective in full autonomy
  • Oversee rollout and validation of SW releases at manufacturing partner
  • Work with third-party test integrators in designing, developing and fabricating test systems
  • Develop and modify test sequences including measurement and calibration algorithms
  • Work closely with cross-functional team to bring the test systems development from the R&D stage all the way through to mass production
  • Support failure analysis on test stations and use data to improve test strategies and processes
  • Domestic and International travel up to 20%


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Master's degree in Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
  • 3+ year experience of advanced Python coding for production testing.
  • 3+ year experience of solid hardware testing and control.
  • 3+ year experience of data and image processing algorithm development.
  • Knowledge of cloud and database technologies such as AWS and SQL.
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • MATLAB and C/C++/C# experience.
  • Experience with device firmware and communication interfaces.
  • Experience independently driving hardware testing station development.
  • Familiarity with AR/VR product testing, including camera, display, and related modules.
  • Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
