OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Electrical Engineer and/or Embedded Software Engineer to lead the development and growth of the electrical design and embedded software group within our Medical Technology (MedTech) division in Boston.

YOUR ROLE

Your responsibilities include people leadership and development as the direct line manager of electrical and software engineers as well as technical leadership and delivery on client projects.

The projects we undertake span the entire product development lifecycle, from concept to transfer to manufacture, and require a significant element of multi-disciplinary skills and collaboration from our project teams.

We are looking for a technical expert in electrical engineering and/or embedded software development, with a strong track record of executing medical technology development as well as leading and developing others.

DAY TO DAY

We undertake a wide variety of work, hence we are looking for an adaptable, hands-on business and technology leader. You will need to be a self-starter that thrives on challenges, drives and inspires execution excellence and has a tenacity for further improvements.

  • Develop group identity and motivate group members to make the group a success
  • Agree to a recruitment plan and deliver on that plan
  • Mentor and coach group members, develop and grow individuals to achieve career progression in alignment with the agreed strategic direction of the business
  • Manage the resourcing of projects that require group members expertise
  • Convert inbound inquiries/ requests for proposals into sales by providing technical input to our proposals and building the relationship with our clients.
  • Take significant project leadership roles (technical lead and/or program manager) in large, multi-disciplinary projects, delivering to time, budget, and specification.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

REQUIREMENTS:
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in product development, including both individual technical contributions and leading and delegating work to others.
  • 3+ years' experience of line management with a strong track record in mentoring junior team members and motivating technical leaders that have more seniority.
  • 3+ years' experience in medical product development, applying relevant standards to embedded system development
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and negotiation skills to effectively influence decisions at multiple levels in the organization and to orchestrate project activities in cross-functional teams.
  • Strong technical expertise in your background - be it Electrical Engineering, Software, Embedded Systems, etc. This may include:
    • Strong technical expertise in fundamental analog/RF/power electronic system design, including circuit analysis, simulation, and PCB level design.
    • Experience leading software development and risk management strategy for medical devices in compliance with IEC 62304 and ISO 14971, including experience with class B medical software. Class C is a plus.
EVEN BETTER:
  • Experience in a consulting environment.
