The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company in Marysville Ohio is seeking qualified/motivated individuals to join our Corporate Services Team as a Grounds Maintenance Turf Technician.

What you'll do in this role:

  • This is a Full Time position for an associate to support and assist our Landscape Services Crew at our World Headquarters and R&D grounds located in Marysville Ohio.
  • This position will share the responsibilities of practicing and sustaining high quality turf and grounds maintenance standards in the following areas:
    • Priority lawns and landscapes
    • R&D lawns, plots, beds and other research areas
    • Onsite irrigation systems
    • Interior plantscapes
    • Aquatic ponds and streams
    • Control product application
    • Snow and Ice removal
    • Holiday decorations
    • Equipment care and maintenance
    • R&D Tours/Corporate Events Support
    • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor

Typical tasks include but are not limited to:
  • Priority lawns and landscapes
    • Mowing, edging & trimming
    • Foliage/plant care
    • Tree & shrub removal
  • R&D lawns, plots, beds and all other research areas
    • Mowing and trimming
    • Irrigation Scheduling
  • Onsite irrigation systems
    • Operation and troubleshooting
  • Interior plantscapes
    • Assist in maintaining indoor plants throughout multiple buildings on site
    • Prune, water and change out plants
  • Aquatic ponds and streams
    • Maintain waterways for general cleanliness, drainage and irrigation usage
  • Control product application
    • Perform periodic applications of control products including Fungicides, Insecticides, Herbicides and Fertilizer
    • Practice required safety protocols when handling, applying and storing control products
    • Perform required ODA record keeping of all applications
  • Snow and Ice removal
    • Perform timely removal of snow from specified areas using snow plows, shovels, loaders and rotary brooms.
    • Apply ice/snow melt products as prescribed and needed
    • Maintain sidewalk salt boxes
  • Holiday decorations
    • Assist with installation and take down of seasonal holiday decorations at multiple onsite facilities
  • Equipment care and maintenance
    • Perform daily maintenance checks and safety verifications on equipment in use
  • R&D Tours/Corporate Events Support
    • Assist in the setup, operations and teardown of various events
  • Performs other duties as assigned by manager
    • The Landscape Services group is part of the Facilities Division and will be called on from time to time to help in other areas as needed

Education & Experience
  • ODA Licensed Pesticide Applicator - possess or obtains a license with categories 3, 6 & 8 within 3 months of hire
  • Working towards High School Graduate, Vocational or Degree in Turf/Landscape/Agriculture Technologies or similar
  • Prefer a minimum 2 years' experience working in landscape, irrigation, golf course, lawn care, agriculture or similar
