Financial Risk Intern

About the Position

The Financial Risk Intern will primarily perform analysis and support advanced modeling efforts on the Financial Risk Management (FRM) team within the Finance Department. In addition, this individual will help enhance reporting to support both LGFCU and Civic FCU needs.

Normal Day-to-Day Work

  1. Learn and develop a good understanding of FRM functions and concepts.
  2. Perform analysis to monitor the underlying drivers of financial risk exposure change (with a focus on credit risk), balance sheet trends, market factors, and financial risk sensitivity position.
  3. Help update and enhance the current quantitative models such as credit risk models and financial forecast models.
  4. Conduct research and data analysis/preparation to support planned projects such as expected credit loss estimation (CECL).
  5. Assist with the production and delivery of FRM monthly reports.
  6. Provide support to the financial risk team regarding process improvement and documentation efforts.


Job Qualifications

Here are a few skills you MUST have to be considered for this position.
  1. Currently working towards a bachelor's degree in finance, Economics, Business, Mathematics, Statistics or related field of study.
  2. Strong quantitative, financial, and problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail. Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  3. Ability to function in a commercial business office environment and utilize standard office equipment including but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone, etc.
  4. Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs. (file boxes, computer printer).
  5. Travel required sometimes


This is a paid internship, running from May 17 - August 6. All candidates must be able to work on site in Raleigh, NC.
