A. POSITION SUMMARY: The Financial Analyst is responsible for financial reporting and analysis, forecasting & annual budget processing, supporting cross-departmental & organization optimization projects, assisting the Accounting Manager with the month-end/year-end close, providing relief/backup for billing, A/P, A/R, collection efforts, payroll processing, and other projects as assigned. The position reports to the Accounting Manager.

B. KEY FUNCTIONS

Financial Analysis (55%)

  • Perform margin review for equipment builds comparing budget to actual to determine the reason for material variances
  • Perform analytical reviews of BU financial statements and investigate fluctuations
  • Prepare and/or assist in preparation of monthly financial reporting packages submitted to corporate management
  • Maintain compliance with internal controls over financial reporting
  • Support provision of deliverables to internal and external auditors
  • Assist in forecasting, related support & presentation prep for annual budget and Mid Term Plan processes
  • Manage the collection of inputs for and consolidate the BU financial forecast and budgets
  • Identify opportunities for improvements in accounting and financial close processes
  • Lead and contribute to accounting/finance projects, including financial/operations system implementation
  • Special projects and other duties as needed

General Accounting (35%)
  • Assist the Accounting Manager with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing - planning and executing periodic closing processes and ensuring all supporting analyses and reconciliations are complete and submitted on-time
  • Assist the Accounting Manager with recognizing revenue using appropriate accounting methods (approximately 1/4th of company sales are recognized on the Percentage of Completion method)
  • Assist the Accounting Manager to plan and/or supervise annual physical inventory count
  • Research, assess the impact, and lead the implementation of the appropriate accounting treatment for non-standard transactions and new U.S. GAAP accounting standards
  • Prepare and enter various journal entries
  • Reconcile and analyze general ledger accounts
  • Support the maintenance of the fixed and intangible asset sub-ledgers; review the calculation of the monthly depreciation and amortization expense
  • Support the reconcilion of inventory monthly; Prepare the obsolete inventory calculation quarterly
  • Participate in audits
  • Investigate questionable data and recommend actions to resolve discrepancies
  • Special projects and other duties as needed

Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable & Payroll (10%)

Provide relief/backup for billing, A/P, A/R, and payroll processing, including but not limited to:
  • Responding to vendor inquiries and resolving A/P issues
  • Obtaining W-9s from new vendors, and processing annual 1099s.
  • Assisting with value-added tax (VAT) reporting
  • Preparing sales invoices and submitting to customers.
  • Reviewing sales orders and/or CDS's for accuracy, updating as needed, and releasing to Customer Experience Specialists.
  • Tracking aging and making collection calls as needed.
  • Applying customer payments to the appropriate account.
  • Managing customer deposits in the appropriate account.
  • Reviewing for accuracy the bi-weekly payroll report provided by AKA Payroll department.
  • Maintaining appropriate records for employee personal time off and record required adjustments to accrual journal entries.

D. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to Accounting Manager

E. MINIMUM/PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Bachelor's Degree in accounting required
  • 0-5 years experience performing accounting/financial analysis duties
  • CPA study or aspiration desired
  • Exceptional integrity, professionalism, detail-orientation, and organization
  • Familiarity with both small and large company processes
  • Familiarity with manufacturing businesses a plus
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, and Outlook

F. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
  • Infrequent travel (~1 trip/yr)
  • Occasional overtime may be required (quarter or year-end closing, audits, budgeting, etc.)
