Job Info

It's time to join New England's foremost dairy company with a 100-year history of leadership in the industry. Delivering the Natural Goodness of Maine since 1921, Oakhurst Dairy is a company you can be proud to work for. Located in Portland, Maine, our company is one of New England's key employers offering:

* Local management
* Excellent compensation and benefits and
* Pride in the product you will represent

It's about more than milk -- it's our heartfelt pledge to people throughout New England to honor what Maine stands for -- by offering the purist, freshest, most delicious products, while standing up for what's right, for our customers, for farmers, and for the environment. All of our milk is sourced from local farms in Maine and our facilities meet the highest quality-control standards. We produce fresh wholesome milk and dairy products which are backed by a 100% satisfaction guarantee.

In 2014 Oakhurst was acquired by Dairy Farmers of America (DFA), a national dairy farmer-owned cooperative. Oakhurst is a wholly owned subsidiary of DFA and continues to operate independently.

Oakhurst Dairy seeks a hard-working industrious person with a valid Maine driver's license that will assist with maintaining all aspects of our facilities and grounds at our manufacturing and supporting facilities. Duties will include general maintenance, minor repairs including painting, cleaning and basic plumbing. Our facilities require some very basic landscaping in the spring, summer and fall as well as snow plowing in the winter (Plowing experience required. Skid steer and heavy equipment experience is a plus). The successful candidate should have the ability to work on ladders and roofs as well as tight spaces throughout the facility and around equipment. As we operate two refrigerated warehouses there are a variety of environments of all different temperatures that require upkeep at all times. Making arrangements and providing support for contractor work will also be required for repairs and projects that require outside support.

If you like a variety of duties and like a blend of being self-directed as well as working with other people, this job is a great fit. This position is a very important part of allowing us to produce the highest quality product for our customers.

Given that we must perform some of this work outside of operating schedules, it does include some weekend work and because of that we have converted this position to a 4-10 hour day schedule with opportunity for overtime. Applicants with a strong sense of working safely and efficiently are encouraged to apply. Winter hours will vary based on weather conditions and needs (shoveling, plowing, etc.).
