Who are we looking for?

GHD's Southeast Environmental group has an opportunity for an Environmental Project Manager, Engineer, Geologist, or Environmental Scientist working in our Atlanta (Buford, GA) office.

This position is an integral part of our environmental services group and requires a diverse array of skills and abilities to provide technical management of environmental assessment, remediation, compliance, or due diligence projects, to support the growth of the practice, and to accomplish the objectives of the team. This position will work directly with senior management.

In this role, you will be tasked with supporting and managing GHD's existing environmental projects in Georgia and surrounding states in the southeast. This role will require a strong technical background in environmental assessment, remediation, compliance, and/or due diligence.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Project coordination, management and leadership of various environmental assessment, remediation, and/or compliance projects including maintenance of project scope, schedule, budget and quality through the coordination of project teams and via direct client communication
  • Participate in and lead project teams in the planning, design, and execution of various environmental compliance, due diligence, assessment, and remedial programs
  • Assessment and Remediation Track: Planning and implementation of environmental field work such as sample/data collection, monitoring well installation, groundwater monitoring, remediation system operation & maintenance, remedial action activities, and oversight of contractors and field staff, when required.
  • Environmental Compliance Track: Lead/support environmental compliance projects
  • Working independently or as part of a collaborative team based on project needs
  • Support existing GHD clients with the implementation of cost-effective and innovative solutions to address their environmental liabilities and concerns
  • Identify and support business development, client expansion, and proposal development activities for GHD's environmental practice based in Atlanta, Georgia
  • Support GHD's development of environmental projects in the public and private sector throughout the southeastern US
  • Provide mentoring to entry-level and junior environmental professionals to support the development of the teams technical skills

What you will bring to the Team
  • Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Environmental Engineering or Science, Chemical or Civil Engineering, Geology or a related field of study.
  • 4 to 10 years of progressive environmental project experience including the coordination and management of projects consisting of site investigation, remediation and monitoring, general environmental compliance and/or natural resources
  • Experience with permit application development (air, stormwater, wastewater, etc.), environmental plan development such as Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs), and Hazardous Waste Contingency Plans (HWCPs), and environmental compliance reporting, such as air emissions reporting, hazardous waste generator reporting, and Emergency Planning Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA) reporting (i.e., Tier II and Form R)
  • Experience completing multi-media site investigation and remediation tasks
  • Site cleanup and remediation design and implementation experience
  • Technical writing and presentation abilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout GA, AL, SC, and NC to undertake field work when needed (estimated 10 to 25% of the time), potentially on short notice
  • Experience with environmental due diligence (Phase I ESAs) is a plus
  • Experience in a business development role that had included lead generation, networking, new client development, and expansion of portfolios with existing clients is a plus and a strong differentiator.
  • Professional licensure (PE, PG) preferred
