With the stability of an over 50-year history with no layoffs, Hypertherm does not plan to make significant changes to OMAX's operations or management structure. The company's current offices and manufacturing operations in Kent, WA, will remain intact with no consolidations or reductions planned.

Our Kent location at OMAX is currently recruiting a full-time Engineering Technician. In this position, you will have an opportunity to work under the direction of an engineer or senior personnel performing tasks which require skilled technical knowledge. Tasks to be performed include test, construction, data collection, troubleshooting, and repair and support on diversified mechanical, electromechanical, and high-pressure equipment and become an associate of an amazing company! In addition, you will be responsible for:

  • Completing and documenting validation and integration testing, system troubleshooting and feedback to engineers through all phases of technology and product development as well as providing input to improve overall product quality, testability and reliability
  • Running test and data acquisition equipment including setup and configuration
  • Working in a product development team to perform tests in a high-pressure pump laboratory
  • Building high pressure, mechanical and electrical assemblies
  • Performing tests, disassemble and carefully inspect components for signs of wear and/or fatigue
  • Documenting experimental set-ups, record observations, log & analyze test data and present results
  • Fabricating and assembling fixtures, experimental setups including data acquisition and other tooling for experiments
  • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment within the high-pressure pump laboratory


Qualifications:
  • ASEE, 2 year technical degree or equivalent and five years of relevant experience in maintaining, operating & troubleshooting industrial machinery, pumps, hydraulic systems, engines or equivalent
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Detailed oriented, keen observation skills and capable of thoroughly documenting experimental setups and test results
  • Basic knowledge of electrical circuitry (wiring, switches, sensors, motors)
  • Ability to read 2D engineering drawings for prototype manufacturing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including presentation of data/experimental results in Excel and Word.
  • Able to work with minimal direction, recognize and perform duties without direct supervision and to interact with other groups within the organization as required.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks effectively.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • High pressure waterjet equipment/cutting experience
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, experience building/rebuilding engines, pumps, or other mechanical devices
  • 3D CAD experience (Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.)
  • Ability to set up & run basic software for data acquisition
  • Welding and light fabrication experience
  • Instrumentation & sensors - installation, calibration & troubleshooting
  • Test lab experience (including supervisory & failure analysis)
