We are actively recruiting candidates to participate in our 2022 Internship program. This program is roughly 12 weeks in length, with the ability for some extensions, and will immerse you into the culture and operations of Garlock Houston. Throughout your internship, you will be given the opportunity and will be expected to contribute as an active team member within your respective department.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project will be focused on the following:

  • Production line set-up and optimization

  • Process documentation (SOP's and JSA's)
  • Assist with Operator training
  • Plant layout optimization
  • Understand and make improvements related to safety within the facility
  • Improve process flows

  • Identify and develop key operational excellence metrics and measures to facilitate performance improvements.
  • Interact with senior management, build internal network and relationships with other employees both in Operations and across the organization, and make a difference in Garlock's future success.
  • Student will be provided with a mentor on project activity and will receive coaching from senior manufacturing personnel.
  • Orientation training is provided at the start of the work semester and student will report out on their activity each semester to representatives of Garlock's senior manufacturing management and Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Currently pursuing a degree: Engineering or Operations focus.

Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to acquire, assimilate, and analyze data from multiple systems and data sources using a variety of business intelligence and reporting tools.

Strong communication and presentation skills adaptable for engaging with multiple levels across the organization.

Ability to operate and take initiative in an environment of ambiguity; holds themselves and team members accountable for a high level of performance.

Some project management and data analysis experience is important. • Must have ability to reason and develop critical thinking skills.

Must be able to read/comprehend written and oral instructions in English; read and comprehend safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and product recipes/material identifications.

Proficient with MS Word & Excel preferred. • Self-motivated. • Collaborative.
