Location: Onsite - NASA White Sands Test Facility Las Cruses, NM 88004

Security Clearance:

Must be a US Citizen eligible for a DoD Secret Clearance.

Must be a U.S. Citizen. A high-level Department of Defense (DoD) active security clearance may be required. Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to government information.

Job Summary:

Engineering Technician to perform assignments that are not completely standardized or prescribed, selects, or adapts standard procedures or equipment, using fully applicable precedents, receives initial instructions, equipment requirements, and advice from supervisor or engineer as needed, performs recurring work independently. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy or conformity with instructions.

Key Responsibilities:

This technician performs one or a combination of such typical duties as:

• Constructing components, subunits, or simple models or adapts standard equipment; may troubleshoot and correct malfunctions.
• Following specific layout and scientific diagrams to construct and package simple devices and subunits of equipment.
• Conducting various tests or experiments which may require minor modifications in test setups or procedures as well as subjective judgments in measurement, selecting, preparing, and operating standard test equipment and recording test data.
• Extracting and compiling a variety of engineering data from field notes, manuals, lab reports, etc., processing data, identifying errors or inconsistencies, selecting methods of data presentation.
• Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications and using judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.
• Employs strong communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work with users of various technical abilities to resolve issues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field. (AA or AS - 4 years / High School - 6 years experience acceptable)
• Ability to physically maneuver networking equipment and do the required physical work (lifting and climbing) to install and maintain equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with government security and compliance standards is plus
• Knowledge of White Sands Test Facility and local policies, procedures is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required. Possible lifting up to 50 lbs.
