Alliant Energy has an outstanding opportunity for a Substation Engineer I to join our team in Madison, WI. In this role, you will perform a variety of engineering support in planning, design, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning of electric substations. You will workwith internal and external partners, suppliers, and consultants to develop all design documents, bill of materials and drawings for substations with voltages from 4kV to 161kV. This position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and may be filled at a higher level depending on the candidate's qualifications.

This position offers a blend of working from home, and in theMadison, WIoffice on average 2 days per week. The successful candidate must reside in Wisconsin.

Job Qualifications
  • This position requires a four year degree from an accredited college or university, within an engineering program that is accredited through the Engineering Accreditation Commission. Previous technical and/or professional experience preferred.
  • An internship or co-op in engineering preferred.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computer software programs (e.g., e-mail, word processing, spreadsheet, and project management).
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment.

Other Requirements
This job is covered by the Department of Transportation regulations on drug and alcohol testing (CFR 49, Parts 40 and 199), and is subject to drug testing according to said regulations.
