JOB SUMMARY:

This employee builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs, and modifies developmental and production electronic products. He or she also uses printed circuit board (PCB) software and other design documentation to aid in prototype builds or troubleshooting electronic assemblies. This employee also presents information to cross-functional team members, documents equipment characteristics, and performs other duties as assigned.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Analyze and apply information from a variety of sources, including:
  • Interviews with engineers, operators, suppliers, etc.
  • Technical literature.
  • Testing or operating equipment.
  • Assemble experimental circuitry on a breadboard, on a milled PCB, or on a Fabricated PCB.
  • Recommend changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly, reduce maintenance, and/or improve functionality.
  • Setup standard test apparatus or devises test equipment and circuitry to conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.
  • Analyze and interpret test data to aid in troubleshooting and validation of assemblies.
  • Adjust, calibrate, align, and/or modify circuitry and components.
  • Record the effects of testing and modifications on unit performance.
  • Use electronic equipment (oscilloscope, volt ohm meters, frequency counters, etc.) to troubleshoot, analyze electronic circuits and correct problems.
  • Check functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Meet or exceed typical expectations for creativity, productivity, quality of work, and safety.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Office environment most of the time, plant or outdoor environment a small amount of the time. Plant and outdoor conditions include variable heat and humidity, dirt, and noise; physical hazards such as soldering-irons, sharp objects, and moving machinery; hazardous materials such as solder and adhesives.
  • Rapidly changing workloads and priorities.
  • Occasional travel (air and highway).

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Have an Associate's degree in Electronic Technology, Electronic Engineering Technology, or equivalent formal education beyond high school (preferred).
  • 1 - 3 years of hands-on experience troubleshooting, soldering, and supporting electronic assemblies (preferred).
  • Comply with ESD guidelines for production parts.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in reading schematics and related engineering information.
  • Have appropriate experience building, testing, and troubleshooting electronic assemblies and fixtures.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge (or willingness and ability to learn) of PCB layout capabilities.
  • Have effective communication skills, and work well with others.
  • Have a good work record of self-motivation, judgment, and productivity.
  • Be willing to work overtime or extra hours as needed.
