PRIMARY PURPOSE
Electronics Engineer with appropriate experience to design, build, test, and document equipment, harnesses, and other service products. The Electronics Engineer's focus is to provide support for existing test equipment and the processes used to test and repair customer electronic products. The Electronics Engineer will lead the local effort to establish new test and repair capability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a multiple project workload.
  • Provide technical expertise in the evaluation for test, troubleshooting and repair of Customer non-conforming product.
  • Provide hands-on support for debugging and modifying the hardware and software of existing test equipment when necessary, in production environment.
  • Manage and execute projects to establish new repair capability within existing repair facility, including the evaluation of sample products and associated test procedures, bills of material, tooling and equipment.
  • Design, develop and implement test strategies to satisfy product test requirements.
  • Develop controlled documentation based on tests to produce test procedure requirements.
  • Coordinate with production departments to ensure that installation and operation comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Interface with other engineering departments to prepare equipment specifications
  • Design test equipment.
  • Create technical documents and drawings.
  • Communicate with engineering staff, other internal contacts and customer personnel as needed.
  • Technically assist Electronics Technicians.
  • Exhibit safe work habits adhere to all applicable PPE and OSHA guidelines.
  • Required to be highly organized and exhibit technical proficiency.
  • Work with minimal supervision.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Provide technical support, as required, for other Wabtec products, such as electronic air brakes, video recording systems, event recorders, etc., as applicable.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum education, job experience, certifications, skills, knowledge and abilities that incumbent must typically have to perform the essential functions of the job acceptably with or without a reasonable accommodation.

- Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of related experience (engineering experience a plus)
- Computer system functional knowledge required:
  • Operating systems: Windows req, DOS, Linux, C++, & Python all a plus
  • MS Office programs (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • CAD or Visio experience preferred
- Understand and follow schematics, assembly drawings and technical procedures
- Possess excellent soldering skills in both through hole and/ or surface (IPC certification a plus)
- Equipment building skills using common power tools (drill, saw, and paint with aluminum and steel)
- Equipment familiarity and operational experience with DMMs, Frequency Counters, Spectrum Analyzers, Oscilloscopes, and other common electronics test equipment.
- Strong background in electronics design and software interface.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, able to quickly pin point failed component on circuit board.
- Accomplished problem solver; able to assess options, establish priorities and influence change.
- Self-starter, strong communication skills, able to work as a team member.
- Organized, detailed oriented and able to multi-task.
- Technical writing skills to include: Writing test plans and procedures, change orders, etc.
- Ability to create and modify drawings.
- Support testing hardware and software against the system requirements and interface specification documents.
- Familiarity with UL, OSHA, AAR, and other regulatory guidelines as necessary.
- Physically able to climb ladders and able to push, pull, lift or carry up to 40 lbs on an occasional basis.
