The Director, Strategy Advancement provides data-based strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities for the GMS Service and Business Operations organization. Provides business intelligence and strategic planning support for business segment and the company at large. The Director, Strategy Advancement requires an in-depth understanding of how organization capabilities interrelate across the enterprise. Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret, and produce recommendations and plans based on company and external data analysis. Ensures that policies and procedures align with corporate vision. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel ensuring efficient operation of the function. Decisions are typically related to the implementation of new/updated programs or large-scale projects for the function and supporting technical/operational procedures and processes, and implements strategic plans, drives goals and objectives, and improves performance.

Responsibilities

The Director will work closely with the GMS Ops SVP and in partnership with the senior leadership team to help orchestrate the strategy and deliver strategic initiatives toward achieving the organization's goal of creating a best-in-class customer experience for groups, members and beneficiaries. This role provides strategic leadership for key operations initiatives, including segment growth strategy, operations planning, digital transformation, channel optimization, and long-range operations planning. This role will report to the Senior Vice President, GMS Service and Business Operations and drive key strategic initiatives towards the attainment of scorecard outcomes.

This role serves on the Group and Military Leadership Team and acts as the liaison between the organization and other internal and external businesses. This person anticipates needs and works to provide logical, innovative, and creative solutions without explicit instruction. The Director will manage and deliver end-to-end strategy projects and analysis prioritized by the leadership team. This senior leadership role will operate independently and with minimal guidance from the SVP, Ops on strategic priorities. The Director will shape implementation considerations, and work with GMS, Segment and enterprise leaders as appropriate to transition analysis into execution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing high-profile, high-impact strategy projects end-to-end, from developing an approach to delivering recommendations and final deliverables
  • Overseeing and shaping high quality analysis and deliverables that clearly frame growth objectives, issues/challenges, and articulate compelling, insightful findings, conclusions, and recommendations
  • Overseeing development of hypothesis to be validated or refined through targeted research and analysis
  • Lead the annual strategic planning process, driving alignment around strategic priorities, executing and monitoring progress
  • Overseeing industry, market, competitor, and financial analysis
  • Working collaboratively with cross-functional groups across the enterprise with a focus on working with teams, strong analytics, and information synthesis while applying critical thinking to these initiatives
  • Effectively leading and developing a strategy advancement team of professionals
  • Serve as primary liaison for internal and external communications
  • In partnership with the SVP Ops, set the strategic an operating cadence for the organization to include facilitation of leadership team meetings and business reviews to ensure effective utilization of time, quality decision making and focus on the most important topics.
  • This role is responsible for reconciling the projections by the operations team with the financial team.

Required Qualifications
  • Master's Degree
  • 8 or more years of technical experience
  • 5 or more years of management experience
  • Experience with leading major initiatives essential
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior healthcare industry experience, preferably in the managed care or provider sector
