What You Will Contribute:

Job Overview

The Director of Total Rewards provides strategic and operational leadership for our compensation, benefits, compliance and payroll functions that supports our effort to attract, motivate and retain top talent. This includes the development, execution, evaluation and maintenance of the philosophies, policies, programs and practices of all of these functions ensuring Badger Meter compensation and benefits are competitive within the market place, support making the company a great place to work and aligned with the business objectives. Reports to the Vice President - Human Resources and is a key member of the human resources leadership team.

Benefits
1. Develops, communicates, and administers, competitive total rewards strategies, including compensation, health and welfare and retirement benefits, and recognition programs, that are competitive, cost effective and support Badger Meter as a great place to work.
2. Responsible for the management, administration and strategy relative to benefit plan offerings for both active and retired employees. This includes are wellness programs.
3. Maintains current and legally compliant policies and procedures, summary plan descriptions and other benefit documents. Works with outside attorney as appropriate to ensure compliance with applicable laws. Communicates changes effectively to the appropriate audience.
4. Completes the annual benefit enrollment process - ensures positive internal customer experience and works efficiencies into the process.
5. Monitors cost and performance of our benefit plans, identifies areas for improvement and recommends appropriate changes.
6. Stays current with the evolving external benefit market and regulations and evaluates opportunities for improvement.
7. Is a member of the Benefit Plan Administration Committee.
8. Communicates regularly and effectively company benefits to employees ensuring employees understand the offerings and the value of the offerings.
9. Responsible for completion of all required government filings and audits including form 5500s and ACA.

Compensation
10. Responsible for the development, execution, communication and continuous review of the compensation program (including base and variable pay), policies and procedures ensuring employees compensation is competitive in the market place, aligned with business objectives and there is a strong link between pay and performance.
11. Ensures compensation policies and practices comply with applicable laws. Monitors as appropriate. Ensures positions have the appropriate FLSA status.
12. Implements the annual merit increase process.
13. Completes review of salary structure and positions annually including internal equity and external market benchmarking. Makes recommendations for appropriate changes. Also completes salary surveys.
14. Design and deliver compensation communication, training and guidance to HR staff and managers as needed
15. Partners with other members of the HR team and leaders in the development of career paths and other employee programs as appropriate.

Payroll
16. Oversee the accurate and timely payroll processing for the US and Canada. This includes time and attendance system and processes.
17. Ensures all required government reporting and filing regarding payroll are completed timely and accurately.
18. Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities. Analyzes current rewards programs to ensure they align with our business strategy and ensures that our rewards programs optimize our ability to attract and retain top talent
19. Provides insightful data to guide decision making and offers proactive solutions
20. Oversees relationships with all vendors that support the total reward function.
21. Assists with strategic projects as assigned, including human resources activities associated with reorganizations, and merger and acquisition work.

Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field. Master's preferred.
2. 7 - 10 years' experience working in Compensation and Benefits resulting in strong technical knowledge in these areas. Global work experience preferred. 3 to 5 years in Human Resources leadership position
3. Knowledge of payroll processes and practices.
4. Strong Customer focus and solution oriented - partners with colleagues on solutions.
5. Excellent team player and proactively reaches out to assist colleagues. Positive outlook.
6. Ability to think innovatively and strategically to align Total Rewards programs with the business and ensure market competitiveness.
7. Demonstrated strong skills in leading a team and organizational change.
8. Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.
9. Strong business, organizational awareness, and analytical skills with the ability to surface problems, issues and solutions quickly.
