The Director of Food Service is responsible for the optimal efficiency and effectiveness of Food Service Operations for the entire Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center Campus. Provides leadership to the Food Service Department through the overall planning, direction and control of the department in conjunction with the JHHS Vice President of Food and Culinary Services and the COO of Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. The Food Service Director ensures a high level of customer service and patient satisfaction, excellent work culture and cost effective management of all aspects of the service. Responsible for all activities related to food production, service for patients, employees, and visitors; catering and procurement of food service supplies. Provides oversight to the monitoring and evaluation of quality of food serviced and regulatory performance improvement processes for area of responsibility.
  • Work requires Bachelor's Degree in Food Service Technology/Management, Hospitality, Nutrition and Diatetics or other related field; Master's preferred.
  • Minimum of seven years' progressive culinary/kitchen management experience. Healthcare and/or higher education experience a plus. Must have experience in high volume, multi-site, complex foodservice operations.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of the culinary arts including cooking, baking, salad prep, etc., as well as procurement and storage of food and related non-food items.
