THE ROLE

With over 40,000 team members across 200 locations, delivering $2Billion per year in revenue, Levy has considerable opportunities and challenges when it comes to Employee Relations.

The Director of Employee Relations leads the organization's efforts to build a positive culture of accountability, recognition, and reward. Part of the team who provide advice and guidance to managers on all employee relations activity, this position is also critical in ensuring all such actions are in line with our policies, best practices, and values.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coach and mentor Field HR on Employee Relations protocols and best practices
  • Monitor issues to identify trends or emerging patterns
  • Partner with other centers for expertise to develop solutions to emerging Employee Relations issue trends
  • Project manage large scale, high risk, Employee Relations projects
  • Support the maintenance and communication of the Employee Relations Core Signature standards
  • Provide advice, guidance and direction to managers handling Employee Relations issues
  • Design, communicate and continually improve all Employee Relations procedures such as performance improvement
  • Oversee the maintenance of all HR policies
  • Partner with the legal team to communicate best practices around high risk Employee Relations areas
  • Other duties as assigned


Focusing on Clients & Consumers

  • Develop strong, healthy relationships with stakeholders and customers; provide consistent advice to build trust
  • Work with stakeholders and customers to understand their view of the current service and deliver improvements
  • Ensure appropriate focus and resourcing to provide timely support and service to all service users
  • Support managers in making the best possible decisions when it comes to their people
  • Champion the needs and values of our people


Developing Winning Teams

  • Establish clear accountabilities, targets and standards in the team
  • Coach team members to ensure consistent excellence of advice and guidance
  • Mentor and develop location HR leaders to implement and own Employee Relations initiatives
  • Personally role model Levy values
  • Maintain drive and energy to keep the team going


Building Strong Relationships

  • Use an understanding of the Compass organization to ensure continual improvement of service user experience regardless of who they contact
  • Use an understanding of other perspectives to plan and deliver effective communication around Employee Relations initiatives
  • Manage tension or disagreement to achieve a positive outcome
  • Develop and deliver effective presentations and training to improve the understanding of Employee Relations across the business
  • Facilitate meetings or discussions to build enthusiasm and collaboration


Seeing the Bigger Picture

  • Balance the commercial needs of the Company with potential risk of making the incorrect Employee Relations decisions
  • Demonstrate understanding of the changing requirements of partners, consumers and internal customers
  • Understand the medium term strategy for Levy and the People & Culture function
  • Plan the team's activity to deliver against objectives and KPI's
Innovating & Improving
  • Benchmark inside and outside the business to identify better ways of doing things
  • Develop ways to share best practice across the wider team
  • Shape and manages change and improvement programs in relation to Employee Relations
  • Deliver projects in accordance with change management principles
  • Identify and addresses the gaps in resources and skills required to deliver initiatives
  • Use data to identify trends in Employee Relations which need to be addressed


Delivering Results

  • 'Understands what good looks like' - analyzes performance data to identify how service might be improved
  • Coach team managers to understand business information and the key performance levers
  • Evaluate/audit working practices to manage risks and drive compliance
  • Use judgement and commercial knowledge to make decisions where there is incomplete information
  • Take action to maintain high standards of integrity and ethics across the team


YOU

  • Experience, Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working in a team
  • SHRM Certification (preferred)
  • Experience managing and leading other HR professionals
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal Skills
