About the Role

The Director, Data Stewardship will be responsible for Walmart's associate data governance and data modeling. This includes leading a team of associates across multiple geographies (US and India) to improve the availability, accuracy, security, and consistency of our associate data.

This leader will own:

data governance roadmap, processes, resolution framework, security/permissions, metadata, lineage, audit controls, and data/metric standards. semantic data layer roadmap; tabular model design, development, and deployment; and standards and best practices for product deployment.

This individual will work with technology teams that own data applications and long-term storage (data lake, data warehouse) along with product and BI teams in delivering and enabling data-related strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide role clarity, meaningfully scoped roles, and targeted support and development to individual contributors on the team
• Manage the strategy for associate data by prioritizing enhancements; ensuring alignment of customer business strategy with system enhancements; and reviewing and approving implementation plans
• Lead the team to improve understanding of data and data quality
  • Create and maintain business glossary, data dictionary and data lineage
  • Define business data quality rules
  • Define data quality metrics and thresholds for people domain
  • Prioritize issues to remediate

• Prioritize data source needs across products and work with Global Data Product Leads to deliver required data for consumption in production or by self-service portals, dashboards, and analytics tools
• Own, develop, and maintain semantic data layer and roadmap (familiarity with MSBI, AAS, SSAS, and tabular models preferred)
• Establish and ensure adherence to data usage, access standards, and compliance policies; provide guidance on data process best practices
• Subject matter expert for all people data requirements
• Seek out, implement, and evangelize best practices internally and to external data stewardship community events

As permitted by applicable law, provide evidence of full vaccination as defined by CDC guidelines OR secure approval of medical or religious accommodation for the vaccination mandate., Option 1: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Arts, Finance or related field and 5 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field. Option 2: Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 3 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field. Option 3: 7 years' experience in data analysis, data science, statistics, or related field. 2 years' supervisory experience.
