CALSTART is seeking a Deputy Director to serve our Midwest Regional Office to support the regional office's operational activities. The Deputy Director will report to the region's Senior Director to further the region's operating success. The Deputy Director will have both internal and external facing responsibilities, ranging from client and project management (business development, developing methodologies and processes, high-quality client delivery, written products), while working closely with the Senior Director to proactively provide support and ensure CALSTART's continued success. The Deputy Director will be responsible for regional activities and operations, project management, and annual strategic planning, while also having individual project responsibilities aligned to the region's goals and objectives in addition to the leadership aspect of this role. The Deputy Director will work closely with Program and Project Managers, supervising one or more Regional Office staff, responsibilities providing leadership guidance and hands-on support, while working to build opportunities for business development.

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and support regional strategic planning, regional goals and objectives, program/project staffing, regional budgeting, assess regional needs, organizational operations
  • Cultivate and manage stakeholder relationships including existing and potential future member companies, government agencies, commercial fleets, transit fleets, utilities and more
  • Oversee program and project activities across the initiative and activity areas, ensuring programs and projects are impactful and meet our mission and goals, provide operational and technical guidance to Regional Office staff, assert high standards of excellence, and provide quality assurance in reviewing client-facing deliverables
  • Build a strong pipeline of new business opportunities and funding ensuring the future success of the region including monitoring for new opportunities and delivering successful proposals in response

What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • 5+ years of experience in project management and people management
  • You are motivating and drive success across the CALSTART regional team through your leadership skills promoting the region's strategy and informing future strategies based on the evolving nature of our work
  • You are a proactive, self-starter who understands the important of wearing multiple hates and supporting the team as needed to ensure the greatest success
  • You are driven and results orientated and always eager to get things done, but never at the cost of a thoughtful or strategic approach.
  • You understand the importance of relationships and are eager to build relationships and leverage those relationships to build our work in the region.

Desired Qualifications:
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification
  • Non-profit experience
  • Clean transportation industry background and knowledge

$105,629 - $120,260 a year

CALSTART values transparency and strives to provide as much information regarding compensation as possible. The complete salary range for this role is $105,630 -$120,260. We determine pay based on several factors, including but not limited to job-related skills, qualifications, experience, education, internal equity and other factors relevant to the job.
