Blue Cross of Idaho is seeking a Compliance Specialist to review organization's business practices to ensure pertinent regulations are followed, identify areas of non-compliance, and create a plan to implement changes as needed.

Level I:

2 years' health industry, internal audit, legal, compliance, or government programs. Strong preference for experience with compliance vendor oversight (delegation oversight) and review of contracts against compliance requirements.

Level II:

4 years' health industry, internal audit, legal, compliance, or government programs. . Strong preference for experience with compliance vendor oversight (delegation oversight) and review of contracts against compliance requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience (Two years' relevant work experience is equivalent to one-year college)

Your day may involve:

  • Maintaining and applying knowledge of regulations and regulatory changes relevant to the industry and the organization - CMS, IDHW, OCR and others.
  • Ensuring regulatory standards are applied to organizational policies and procedures by evaluating and communicating regulatory guidance to impacted business areas.
  • Performing periodic risk assessments of operational areas where regulations govern the work performed.
  • Contributing to monitoring and auditing workplans.
  • Responding to compliance and privacy related questions, complaints, and incidences.
  • Investigating and risk-ranking reported compliance issues then working with business and process owners to develop corrective action plans that effectively remediate issues and prevent future occurrences.
  • Facilitating organizational compliance training on general compliance and other topics required by rules and regulations.
  • Conducting monitoring, auditing and surveillance of operational functions, reporting results to business process owners, and leading compliance actions in response to findings.
  • Working with business relationship owners and vendors to train/educate staff, mitigate compliance risks, and drive industry best practices.
  • Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned in support of the objective of achieving an effective compliance program.
