In the US market, we are a leading provider of investment consulting, plan design and record keeper benchmarking services as well as a leader in the provision of delegated (OCIO) services. Mercer has over $2.5trn in DC assets under advice and over $60bn in multi-manager DC assets under management globally. We are seeking to aggressively expand these institutional services across market segments into individually focused financial services and solutions via our financial wellness platform.

Mercer's Wealth business is seeking candidates for the following position that can be performed remotely.

Sr. Defined Contribution Consultant

What can you expect?

  • Serve as the lead consultant to defined contribution clients with large/jumbo plans typically with more than $500M in assets.
  • Lead client projects involving plan design, recordkeeping vendor management, vendor search and fee benchmarking, governance and compliance services, and administration consulting with not for profit and corporate plan sponsors .
  • Cultivate new business through by developing relationships with Mercer clients in other lines of business and responding to prospect opportunities.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on defined contribution topics outside of investments, and ensure clients and prospects are aware of the various ways Mercer can support their initiatives including consulting and investment services
  • Direct analyst staff to execute client projects and oversee development of client deliverables.

We will count on you to:
  • Assisting with new business proposals to prospects and extending the range of services provided to existing Mercer clients as appropriate; emphasis on new ongoing relationships
  • Assisting with the expansion of services to existing DC clients by maintaining ongoing relationships and supporting investment retainer clients
  • Helping to guide and direct execution of long-term DC strategy, direction and focus in the West market; engaging and training staff to deliver services to large or jumbo clients
  • Routinely using Mercer intellectual capital, and participating in development of DC intellectual capital for the US
  • Mentoring junior staff to enhance client facing skills and expand DC expertise through regular interactions and coaching
  • May also be responsible for participating in internal initiatives supporting the growth of the DC Retirement business, or managing a team aligned to support new business proposals and ongoing relationships

What you need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in benefits consulting with proven ability to sell and deliver Defined Contribution retirement consulting services to senior business leaders
  • Strong to expert working knowledge of retirement plan operations: nondiscrimination testing, compliance,plan administration and governance
  • Knowledge of DC vendor marketplace
  • Experience with not-for-profit as well as private sector clients a plus

In addition to the base salary, these positions may be eligible for performance-based incentives.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $108,000 to $180,000.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
