Our Applied Science practice leverages a unique combination of technologies and expertise to engineer practical solutions to problems of national and international importance. We apply expertise in solid and fluid dynamics, materials science, acoustics, risk assessments, and computational simulation methods to solve complex problems. We perform research, mathematical modeling, software development, and design to manage risks to life safety in military platforms and installations, ships and submarines, critical infrastructure, tall buildings, public facilities, industrial and petrochemical plants, and automotive and airborne vehicles. Military, government, corporate, and academic clients value the validation of Applied Science's software and the critical insights gained from correlating analysis with testing.

The Role
We have an opportunity for a Deconstruction Engineering and Safety Management role in the Applied Science practice. The candidate is expected to have an educational background in either structural engineering or engineering mechanics . The candidate will have opportunities to work on projects involving risk and safety management including demolition of structures, emergency response, r oot cause analysis, and litigation support . The work environment within the Applied Science practice is intellectually challenging yet collegial, and supportive. Peers and senior staff will work collaboratively with you.

Responsibilities

  • On-site inspections and investigations including surveying and documenting observations, photographing, and sketching.
  • Organizing field inspection data to facilitate the design and root cause analysis .


  • Perform structural analysis to develop demolition plans and drawings .
  • Perform progressive collapse analysis, assess structural stability due to wind and seismic loads, and perform ground vibration analysis.


Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in a Structural , Engineering Mechanics orassociated fields.
  • Proficiency in nonlinear finite element analysis


  • Knowledge of NDE/NDT and structural health monitoring technologies is preferred but not required
  • Willingness to travel within the US
