Position Summary

The Data Science Intern will be a member of the Digital Americas team. In this role, they will participate in developing and operating new software and data science products to solve challenging business problems across multiple Linde business units. Application areas will include but are not limited to data visualization, advanced analytics, machine learning, smart operations, and supply chain/logistics optimization.

The candidate will be part of an effort to create platforms to apply advanced analytics and machine learning to real-world industrial data. The internship position will furnish the candidate with experience in an industrial data science environment as well as an opportunity to build bleeding-edge solutions for internal business units worldwide.

Qualifications

Basic

  • Working towards a B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering with a strong passion for new technologies, data science, and software development
  • Strong knowledge in multivariate statistics, machine learning algorithms or optimization
  • Development experience with Python (numpy, pandas, and scikit-learn) and SQL
  • Experience with relational database systems and data ETL
  • Problem solving skills and analytical thinking
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
  • Understanding of object-oriented design patterns and architectural principles for data movement
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, Microsoft Azure experience is a plus
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow and PyTorch
  • Experience with Tableau or other data visualization tools
