Our client in Center City, Philadelphia is looking for a Data Engineer to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will be local to Philadelphia with ability to come on-site at least twice a week. This position is permanent by way of contract to hire.

Position Description:

• Develop, troubleshoot and support ETL frameworks and processes within the Enterprise Data Platform
• Work within the development team to move into a big data, Oracle cloud
• Design and analysis of technical solutions for the NextGen data architecture
• Integrate with implementation partners to complete conversion into big data technology
• Work closely with data engineers, modelers and BI analysts to produce end-to-end solutions
• Participate in unit testing, reporting and training as needed
• Analyze and create technical solutions to business processes to meet objectives
• Interact with all areas of the business
• Participate in on-call rotation as needed

Required Skills:

• 2+ years of experience in a Data focused role supporting an IT team
• Experience supporting and developing ETL frameworks within a complex data environment
• Strong understanding of a big data, data warehouse environment, processes and toolsets
• Advanced business acumen surrounding internal and external troubleshooting, customer service and vendor management
• Experience with Spark, Spark SQL, Scala
• Strong understanding of a cloud-based platform preferably Oracle or AWS
• Motivated team player with high stewardship and accountability with interested in improve and advance

Bonus Skills:

• Bachelor's degree highly preferred
• Additional scripting language such as Linux/Shell, Python
• Experience within a financial industry such as insurance highly preferred
• General understanding around accounting practice such as general ledger, chart of accounts etc.
