Position Summary:
The CVC Venture Analyst will join the Dexcom Ventures investment team supporting research, relationship management, diligence, and support of portfolio companies. In addition, the Analyst will manage and build process/tools for ensuring efficient business operations within our strategic corporate venture capital fund. The inaugural Dexcom fund identifies and invests in opportunities to supplement growth in the core business and advance the development of adjacent technologies for the future.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Identification - Network, research and establish relationships with entrepreneurs, researchers, and investors to identify promising technology companies.
• Interaction Management - Manage communication, action items, follow up, and meeting planning with companies and investors.
• Technical and Scientific Due Diligence - Support the Investment Team in due diligence of prospective investments by researching new technologies, participating in pitch calls, evaluating market trends, communicating with internal and external subject matter experts, and analyzing business metrics.
• Portfolio Support -Work directly with our portfolio companies on understanding their needs and identifying beneficial resources and relationships
• Material Preparation - Support Investment Team in preparing presentations and analyses for investment committee and other meetings.
• Portfolio Tracking - Keep records of portfolio companies and work with finance and legal teams to ensure proper reporting.
Required Qualifications:
• BS, MS, or PhD in an engineering, science, or medical field and 6+ years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, including written, oral, and digital.
• Exceptional relationship building skills and an established industry network
• Organizational skills and a process-oriented approach with attention to details.
• Ability to synthesize technical, legal, and financial information.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Investment experience at an investment fund, and/or investment advisory group. Identifiable transaction experience is appreciated.
• Experience working with contracts and legal documents.
Functional Description
Oversees the development of strategic market/product line business plans and marketing programs to support sales in designated market segments; identifies volume and strategic customers; and develops partnerships. Analyzes market data to identify trends/opportunities, develops strategic direction from market information, and creates compelling market analysis presentations. May conduct make-versus-buy analysis from a partnership/merger/acquisition perspective.
