Position Summary

The purpose of this position is to assist with protecting the companies' position in accounts receivable. The credit specialist will focus on the collection and maintenance of customer accounts. The position will support the credit team with upholding quality customer service, professionalism and fostering a positive company image.

Essential Functions and Key Responsibilities

  • Performs collection efforts by telephone and email contact. Documents collection efforts by maintaining consistent notes on customer accounts.
  • Learn to understand legal documentation for credit and collection activities.
  • Utilize tickler system to follow up with customer payment commitments.
  • Assist with the preparation of lien waivers
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders regarding credit holds.
  • Interact with branch personnel to resolve disputes.
  • Proactive in client negotiations to reach the most favorable outcomes for both clients and YKK
  • Interact with internal and external stakeholders regarding credit holds.
  • Maintain professionalism with all contact with clients and coworkers, including content and tone of communication.
  • Maintain discretion regarding discussing company business outside of work or sharing information about a client to an outside party or an unauthorized individual.
  • Promotes goodwill by being friendly, fair, and firm in representing YKK's interest in collection activity.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

  • A minimum requirement is a high school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus 1 - 2 years of credit and collection experience preferably in the construction industry; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred associate's or bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or finance. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products such as Excel and Word.
