Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Crane Operator to join the team at our OSB facility in Fordyce, AR facility. Crane Operators safely and effectively perform periodic maintenance routines to identify and correct mechanical defects before they fail. Crane Operators must have the ability to pay careful attention to details. This position involves moving the crane on the rails from north to south, unloading trucks and stacking the wood correctly, moving wood across to the Fulghum Crane and setting it in the correct position, maintaining the correct rotation of the wood on the P and H side, performing routine maintenance on the equipment and making rounds to ensure that the crane is in safe operation condition. The starting rate is $21.00 per hour and will work alternating day and evening 9-hour shifts and holidays, weekends, and overtime as necessary.

What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Safe and efficient operator of Log Yard Cranes on a rail system
  • Unload log trucks safely and without damage to equipment
  • Keep log supply to mill consistent with production needs.
  • Stack in a neat and orderly fashion to maximize storage and minimize losses.
  • Ensure proper rotation of logs in storage area.
  • Complete daily inspections and checklists
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workplace.
  • Operate equipment in a way that is safe, productive and minimizes breakdowns.
  • Work with maintenance on the portal crane to maximize uptime and operational efficiency.
  • Expected to come out of the crane into the mill to help if situations arise.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • One (1) year of experience or more working in a manufacturing, military, or industrial environment
  • Experience working with hand tools, power tools, precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Experience working with computers for record keeping and documentation functions.

What Will Put You Ahead
  • Two (2) years of experience or more operating a crane in a lumber or wood products environment.
  • Experience performing preventative maintenance schedules (PMS) in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience operating production equipment or large industrial equipment
