@Orchard LLC has an urgent need for a Court Reporter to be located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD to provide court recording and transcription services for fact-finding conferences, negotiations, hearings, depositions, and other legal meetings or events related to litigation and investigation.

As the Court Reporter you will

• Provide verbatim transcriptions of recorded or live hearings/witness interviews.
• Prepare an E-transcript to include the index, of the verbatim testimony of the Investigation and Resolutions Division (IRD) EEO Fact Finding Conference (FFC) or EEOC hearing.
• Operate stenography equipment and other tools used to take notes and produce transcripts of court proceedings at 200 WPM.
• Excellent written communication skills, including a strong command of grammar and mechanics.
• Strong attention to detail, especially when recording gestures and other types of nonverbal communication.
• Demonstrate an understanding of legal compliance requirements.
• Demonstrate the capacity to work independently from general supervision (must be self-motivated once given direction/guidance).
• Develop transcripts with 98.5% accuracy.
• Set up and dismantle stenographic machines and computerized real-time reporting hardware and software, audio, and other related equipment in the courtroom, conference rooms, judge's chambers, or other locations as directed.
• Locate and read back portions of proceedings.
• Remain seated and concentrate for long periods.
• Demonstrate an understanding of Legal and related technical terminology
• Advanced spelling, punctuation, vocabulary, and grammar skills

Your background will include

• A two-year degree or professional certificate in court reporting Court Reporters with at least one year of professional experience.
• Successful completion of a court reporting training program from a recognized program NCRA and Maryland (federal government).
