is a modern, think-outside-the-box home furnishings brand fueling the obsession for expression with curated home statement pieces supporting artists worldwide. We are looking for a Cost Accountant to help us with inventory management for our production facility. You will partner with key team members regularly to keep inventory costs flowing accurately and improve the overall processes related to inventory costing. This position has tight deadlines and a multitude of responsibilities including ongoing inventory item and system cost updates, monthly inventory counts and analysis, and related duties for month-end close.

You'll Report To: Director of Financial Reporting and Marketplaces Accounting

A typical day as a Cost Accountant might include:

    • Periodically review standard costs and update the bill of materials with standard costing updates
    • Conduct monthly and continuous off cycle physical inventory counts
    • Load physical inventory counts into inventory system and review discrepancies
    • Review packing slips daily and receive inventory within inventory system
    • Input inventory daily consumption activity into inventory system
    • Maintain the inventory accounting system, documents, and records of the production organization
    • Assess labor rates on a periodic basis and provide management with recommendations
    • Maintain, add and update new and existing inventory items and bill of materials as needed
    • Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare regular reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
    • Provide management with reports that specify and compare factors that affect prices and profitability of products
    • Work closely with the IT team in defining the proper workflows in inventory system and help configure the system to meet costing and accounting needs
    • Look for automation opportunities to reduce manual work
    • Execute standardized costing methodology
    • Initiates and records inventory purchase price variances
    • Analyze and recommend costs and cost savings
    • Create general ledger adjusting entries as needed
    • Assess scrap and waste and provide recommendations for improvement
    • Abide by Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) for financial statements
    • Complete internal cost audits
    • Generate reports comparing production costs to standard costs and analyze manufacturing costs
    • Perform variance analysis, including purchase price to standard cost variance, cost revaluation, invoice to PO price variances
    • Ad hoc reporting requests associated with inventory management and tracking



What You Have:
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in accounting or related field
    • 2+ years relevant manufacturing accounting and inventory management experience
    • Sage Inventory Management system experience a plus
    • Understanding of cost management methodologies, activities, and cost pools based on direct and indirect cost rates
    • Strong accounting knowledge and understanding of GAAP
    • Must be highly proficient in Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLookUp's, Sumifs etc.
    • Analytical mindset & ability to work with large sets of data
    • Ability to work under pressure, often in a deadline-driven environment and ability to perform several tasks concurrently
    • Excellent verbal and written communication.
    • Not afraid to wear multiple hats - no job being too small or too large.
