Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates knowledge of plant and process safety rules, safe operating methods and good housekeeping standards.
  • Respond to any equipment downtime issues in the plant, both mechanical and electrical and establish any required resources both internal and outside to assist in resolving issues quickly.
  • Train and develop the plant maintenance technicians to increase their ability to understand and troubleshoot controls related issues in the plant.
  • Debug and make PLC/Robot/HMI program changes to improve existing automated process.
  • Communicate actions taken to repair the machine to Operator and/or Manager.
  • Recommend and assist in the selection of suppliers for capital equipment.
  • Install and wire automation equipment based on electrical design schematics.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, corporate engineering, vendors and internal customers.
  • Ensure the completion dates for all project assignments are met.
  • Manage small equipment improvement projects in the plant.
  • Install, repair, upgrade and maintain electrical/electronic equipment used in the manufacturing process.
  • This position will also be responsible to assist or perform mechanical repairs when required.

Education and Experience

  • Typically possesses a high school diploma (or equivalent) or technical training and 3-5 years of industrial controls experience.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Significant experience with process control systems, control theory and Digital Multi-Meter testing tools.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and ability to travel to project locations if needed.
  • Demonstrates ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic drawings and work orders.
  • High level of PLC/Robot troubleshooting (programming experience a plus) with strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and modify primarily Allen Bradley and Siemens PLCs.
  • Strong teamwork capabilities, operating in a multi-function environment to collectively improve operations and resolve related issues.
  • Hands-on approach to engineering both mechanically and electrically.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge and skills by undergoing extensive interview process.
  • Proficient in Microsoft based computer systems.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley Studio 5000, RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500 and FactoryTalk View development, PowerFlex configuration and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, replace and modify HMIs and VFDs.
  • Ability to climb and work at elevations.
  • A working knowledge of communication networks (Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus).
