The Clinical Supervisor responsibilities are outlined and defined below in addition to typical medical assistant duties (see official Medical Assistant job description for more detail). The Clinical Supervisor must possess key qualities outlined for clinic-specific and lead medical assistants in addition to providing support to the Regional Practice Manager, clinicians and medical assistants.

    • Supporting Duties
      • The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for supporting regional medical assistants and related activities.
        • These administrative duties may include but are not limited to:
          • Monitoring clinic control logs,
          • Evaluating compliance with company policies and procedures,
          • Ensuring clinics are staffed appropriately,
          • Providing feedback to medical assistant staff,
          • Monitoring clinic inventories and ordering of supplies
      • The Clinical Supervisor is required to be adept at all aspects of an electronic medical record and the data entry associated.
    • Staffing Assistance
      • Assisting practice manager in all aspects of appropriate clinic staffing.
        Assisting practice manager with medical assistant reviews and timesheet approvals.
        The medical assistant shall, as directed by the Regional Practice Manager, handle time off requests for medical assistants in the region.
    • Clinical Operations Support
      • The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for supporting clinical duties and should have appropriate training and/or certification to perform required duties.
      • The clinical responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
        • Venipuncture/capillary puncture
        • EKG administration
        • Spirometry
        • Urine/Hair drug screens
        • Injections-(intra-muscular, subcutaneous, intradermal)
        • Biometric vital signs measurements
      • Provide patient medications at the direction of providers.
      • Implementing and tracking all operational policies and procedure expectations as set forth by the company and the Regional Practice Manager.
    • All Applicable Medical Assistant Duties
      • The Clinical Supervisor should be adept in all areas expected of a clinic and lead medical assistant as outlined below:
        • Administrative Duties
          • The medical assistant is responsible for all patient appointment administration and the required duties to effectively manage the appointment process.
          • These administrative duties may include but are not limited to:
            • Scheduling appointments,
            • Checking patients in/out,
            • Scanning in appropriate documentation into patient record,
            • Receive and recording copayments.
            • Providing appropriate patient education
            • Providing documentation on patient incentive plans
          • The medical assistant is required to be adept at all aspects of an electronic medical record and the data entry associated.
          • The medical assistant shall attend all appropriate regional operations meetings and such clinic operations meetings as the Regional Practice Manager shall request.
        • Provider Assistance.
          • Assisting clinic providers in all aspects of appropriate patient care.
          • Provider assistance may include but is not limited to:
            • setting up procedures,
            • preparing patient and provider for procedures,
            • Documentation as directed by provider.
          • The medical assistant may be expected to provide assistants to more than one provider at a given clinic.
    • Clinical Duties
      • The medical assistant is responsible for many clinical duties and should have appropriate training and/or certification to perform required duties.
      • The clinical responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
        • Venipuncture/capillary puncture
        • EKG administration
        • Spirometry
        • Urine/Hair drug screens
        • Injections-(intra-muscular, subcutaneous, intradermal)
        • Biometric vital signs measurements
      • Provide patient medications at the direction of providers.
    • Clinic Inventory/Stocking
      • The medical assistant is required to keep detailed records of all clinic inventory.
      • The medical assistant is responsible to keeping clinic resources and equipment available at all times in the clinic. This task is directly associated with keeping an appropriate clinic inventory.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    • 3 years of Medical Assistant experience; preferably in a family practice setting.
    • A minimum of 1 year Lead Medical Assistant experience, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
    • Documented, proficient clinical skills as outlined above
    • Excellent communication, ability to interact effectively with all levels of management and staff, both internally and externally.
    • Thorough understanding and commitment to the principles of wellness and prevention.
    • Self-directed and able to work well independently and within a team.
    • Ability to collaborate with other team peers, management, and subordinates for continued process improvement.
    • Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Proficient computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word.
    • Experience as a medical assistant required; supervisory/management experience preferred

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
    • Completion of appropriate/accredited medical assistant program or equivalent
    • Completion of appropriate/accredited medical assistant externship/internship
