Job Summary:
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced candidate who is interested in tobacco cessation research in diverse settings. Projects include global and domestic research including a multi-year study of pharmacotherapy and a mobile behavioral intervention for people with HIV who use tobacco and are in care in Chennai, India. Activities include supporting communications and meetings across multiple institutions who are partnering on the research and supporting implementation of study activities. The Clinical Science Professional will also be responsible for overseeing current and future research projects, including participating in mixed methods research planning, data collection and analysis. In this multi-faceted role, the candidate will maintain and develop strong relationships with research project stakeholders and subcontractors in other institutions through the life cycle of the project. The successful candidate will support the implementation of study protocols, help to prepare progress reports, manuscripts and presentations, and coordinate training sessions with research staff in the global health project. The candidate must demonstrate superior organizational, administrative, time management, and communication skills with cultural sensitivity, as well as intellectual independence and initiative. The ability to work both independently and as part of a team is essential. Professionalism is needed at all times. Key Responsibilities
- Contribute to the data analysis, writing and editing of manuscripts and abstracts, progress reports and implementation toolkits.
- Maintain detailed records of studies to ensure compliance with requirements of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), study protocols, department, hospital/clinical standard operating procedures, study team meetings, and other regulatory guidelines.
- Support the grant application process by working with investigators to develop proposal elements such as literature reviews, figures and tables.
- Support Institutional Review Board applications working with investigators and project management to develop and compile protocol elements.
- Develop study staff training materials and patient facing content for international trial sites.
- Assist with preparation of presentations and abstracts for scientific meetings.
- For candidates hired at the Principal Level, act as a Subject Matter Expert and authority in the area(s) of cross-cultural expertise and tobacco control.

- Two (2) years clinical research or related experience.
Principal Level: - Bachelor's degree in any field
- A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
- Three (3) years clinical research or related experience.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in science or health related field.
Master's level degree in public health or related field strongly preferred.
One (1) to four (4) years of clinical research or related experience.
Experience with electronic research data systems (e.g., REDCap, OnCore, or Insight and data management systems).
Fluency in Tamil or Telugu.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities - Knowledge and understanding of federal regulations and Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, with domestic and international partners.
- Superb proofreading skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
- Outstanding customer service skills.
- Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
- Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.
- Experience with common PC computer software including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access and Outlook, and reference management software.
- Ability to work well both independently and as part of a research team.
- Ability and willingness to learn new research and administrative skills.
- Time management: Exceptional organizational skills and ability to organize time and priorities effectively, asking for direction when appropriate.
- Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and deadline pressures.

Anticipated Pay Range: The starting salary range (
or hiring range) for this position has been established as:
Entry Level: $44,403 – $56,481
Intermediate Level: $48,321 – $61,464
Senior Level: $52,239 – $66,448
Principal Level: $60,075 – $76,415
The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
