Description:
Clinical dietitian responsibilities include screening and assessment of patients, nutrition education, liaison between diet clerks, patients, and nursing staff, and nutrition intervention on all levels to ensure hospital policies and standards are being met.
Provides vacation and rotating weekend on-call coverage.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Revise patient education materials as needed.
  • Contributes to writing, review, and updating departmental and interdepartmental policies.
  • Teach weekly Migraine Nutrition Class on head pain unit and follow up on head pain patient questions relating to class content.
  • Catch up Monday on RD work that has not necessitated the weekend on-call RD to come in over the weekend (i.e., screen referrals for low risk assessments, diet education).
  • Coordinating ordering/maintaining office supplies through Foodservice department secretary.
  • Provide education in services to other departments as needed.
  • Fulfill all requirements of clinical RD position, including but not limited to nutrition screens, assessments of patients at nutritional risk including age and development level, follow up on TPN or tube fed patients, tabulate calorie counts and perform diet instructions and education on nutrient-drug interactions.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary committees and task forces as assigned.
  • Provides individual patient assessment and education for Chelsea Home Health Care patients upon referral and coordinates these activities and information with the Home Health Care staff.

Other Functions and Responsibilities

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure

Bachelor of Science and completion of dietetic internship or coordinated undergraduate program are required, Registration with the American Dietetic Association. At least one year experience in clinical dietetics or field-related experience.
