Position Summary:
The Department of Theatre, Film and Creative Writing at Boise State University seeks to hire a Clinical Assistant Professor of dramatic writing. The candidate shall have a primary expertise in screenwriting, with a secondary emphasis in playwriting. The ability to teach other film production or studies courses is desired. This full-time, non-tenure track position has a standard 4/4 teaching load. General semester teaching assignments will consist of a combination of courses in the Film and Theatre Arts programs. Areas of required specialization include the writing and study of contemporary film and theatre, including television writing, narrative and dramatic structure, and film and play analysis. The Department of Theatre, Film, and Creative Writing serves as a partnership of programs focusing on the learning, practice, and interaction of the dramatic, cinematic, and literary arts. Film & Television Arts is a newer program, and currently one of the fastest growing on campus. The program emphasizes experiential learning through projects such as the Narrative Television Initiative, in which majors participate in every aspect of the creation of a serial narrative or feature film.
The Department of Theatre, Film, and Creative Writing is situated in the School of the Arts designed to serve as the vibrant urban hub for the study, practice, and integration of the arts. The school cultivates new models of interdisciplinary innovation, entrepreneurial initiative, and collaborative community engagement in order to prepare artists, and all students to thrive in a diverse world.
