Job Summary:To lead the Contact Lens Service at the Eye Care Institute (ECI) at Western University of Health Sciences clinic (WesternU Health).
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Individuals must possess the knowledge, as well as the following skills and abilities or be able to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.
- Knowledge of theoretical and clinical contact lens practice
- Knowledge of basic primary optometric care
- Skilled in the techniques of contact lens patient care practice
- Able to lecture on topics of expertise related to contact lens practice
- Able to publish scholarly papers on topics of expertise, especially related to contact lenses
- Able to lead a team of five to ten providers and staff
- Education: Doctor of Optometry degree with licensure to practice in California or the ability to obtain licensure within 3 months
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years experience in the delivery of contact lens care patient care
Exempt position. Typical working hours are Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm.

Job Duty:Clinical administration of the Contact Lens Service at the Eye Care Institute, including developing a business plan, managing the Contact Lens Service, increasing the patient census, creating effective clinical protocols, and coordinating inter-professional referrals

Job Duty:Engages in community service, providing information about the Contact Lens Service to the community within and beyond Western University. Seeks and supports referrals and consultations from health care providers within the community.

Job Duty:Serves as a liaison between the Contact Lens Service and the didactic and clinical optometry curriculum

Job Duty:Works with the Associate and Assistant Deans of Clinical Affairs to assess equipment and supply needs in the Contact Lens Service. Oversees the implementation and necessary training of new equipment to students and faculty members in the Contact Lens Service.

Job Duty:Ensures that all providers int the Eye Care Institute and WesternU Health are aware of the Contact Lens Services offered and provides updates and communications to WesternU providers on a regular basis.

Job Duty:Reviews reporting data on service from the Electronic Health Records (EHR) system

Job Duty:- Contributes to the annual appraisal process for faculty members who are assigned to the Contact Lens Service
